This is entirely true (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Communication = win, in 80% of all cases It's just so convenient to call over my Raven buddy to guard my back when sitting in an Assault mech (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Well, I bought my COM-2D, and in my first match with it my team won, I got a capture assist bonus plus some salvage credit, and took so little damage that repairs were free.

Is XP implemented? I keep seeing XP gains in the after-match report, but it's not showing up in the Pilot Lab.

Sure it is. There's Mech XP and General XP.
General XP should be in the lower part of the screen, next to C-Bills, but you only earn XP after you're in a non-trial mech. Then you can click on pilot lab and chose your chassis where you can spend the XP |

OK, I found it. Not exactly intuitive, but I found it. How do I add armor? I upgraded my Commando to ferro-fibrous, and reduced its weight by 0.4 ton. How do I apply extra armor to get back up to 25 tons?

Depends on how much it already carries ... But when you go to Mechlab, you have 4 tabs on the right hand side. One is for weapons, the 2nd is for ammo, 3rd for equipment (such as heatsinks, reactors, jumpjets) and the 4th is the armor diagram. There's a max value you can put on, of course.

I'm experimenting with a new loadout. I swapped the SRM6 and SRM4 for three Streak 2s, dropping a ton of ammo and saving enough weight to max out the Commando's armor.

right now, streak srm are perfect against light and medium mechs, due to usually hitting the CT.
so the lighter the armor there, the better. and because they are streak you will usually not miss so much too. |

Of course, the best way to beat a SSRM boat is to power down. Can't get a lock if there's no energy signature/heat signature or something. Of course, not a viable tactic in the middle of a fight, but if that 3xSSRM2 Commando is trying to cap your base, you can park in the zone and just turn off and frustrate the heck out of them. Same strategy works against Streak-Cats too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You're assuming no other weapons. My Streak Commando still has its medium laser, and I assume Streak Cats also keep at least one laser as a backup weapon.
