Well ground out all but the A1, got the C4 in the lab still. And the K2 I'm grinding now that I had bought to try something different on a whim.

Likely will go back to the C1, the load out options mean I can use my C4 build or swap it around for a 3 laser + tag option.

Mediums, I'm actually looking at the trebuchet.. just a lighter version of my Catapult with more speed/maneuverability

I did discover with the current chassis I'm using to grind. I do not like direct fire weapons, I can hit at range but not a brawler by any means so if I'm taking fire and they in close I'm screwed. Course that could be the Cat's big old nose target and slow movement compared to the lighter mechs (one reason to try the mediums... may go with a commando/raven down the road too)

edit:

Well got all the catapults and jagermechs (other than the mc onlys... the cat one is just a A1 preconfiged to what I'm working on, may eventually get the jager one)

Trying to decide if I want a light or medium mech next... while grinding out the upgrades to fill out all my chassis the way I want them

You start using 3rd Person as a default i think.
also, in 3rd person, there is no map and/or no radar as far as i can tell.

Yeah, you have to turn 3rd person start off in the client options. I'm happy with 1st person, but the 3rd person makes the game a little friendlier to newbies.

You still can't chose not to drop against people using 3rd Person, if you are using 1st Person only, if i am reading the outrage correctly.
Also: Paper-Launch.

So when they announced the game ALL I wanted to pilot was an Orion. Lo' and behold they finally released an Orion this month and... my... computer ... died!!

Can't get a new one until sometime next month.

Anger, so much anger. Probably won't get to play until PP launches on the 15th and I'll just not buy the Orion and just play my Thud and Bmaster instead.

Never got a chance to play since 3PV came out, so I have no opinion on that but I am really, really, really not competitive in that game, I generally play drunk and PUG so I doubt I'll even care about competitive advantage.

I'm still trying to figure out if there should be outrage at all. My KtD has stayed about the same since 3rd person was added. So its not givng anyone an unfair advantage that I can perceive. I cant stand 3rd person view myself, I never use it.

They promised that 3rd Person would not be added to the game at all.
They lied.

So then the question is, if they lied, and they admit it, and they apologize ("they" being developers)...do you accept the apology or walk away. From what I've seen and when I've played, its true some players have walked away, but most have stayed. Of course even some of those who stay keep throwing the lie back at the game's face. Almost like a cheating-significant-other situation, but very one-sided (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Most of the guys (and gals) I play with don't use third-person and are indifferent to it. I'm in the same camp.

Hopefully I'll get a computer again on Saturday and maybe on Sunday I can play games again.

I just don't know if I miss Mechwarrior or War Thunder more.

Worse I read that they may have given my beloved Orion the "huge CT syndrome"? Say it ain't so!

So i've been playing this for awhile, was a founder (picked a Hunchback (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) ) and have seen some wild changes along the way. I'm disappointed with their MC gouging, that new Atlas? That's like THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS. Now yes, I did plop down 80 bucks for the Phoenix stuff (but that's 12 mechs, 4 of them heroes) and premium time.

I'm concerned about moving goalposts for things like UI and community warfare (why introduce +loyalty items if we're not going to see that for what...another 6 months?).

I'm with you. I founder'ed as well, also a Hunchie that I never use, and I'm kinda excited for the Phoenix pack, although I wish they'd have put a Griffin or Wolverine in and not sold them seperately, not liking that move at all.

It's funny how that works (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Personally, I'm a bit miffed about this. As I couldn't see any change to my ratios, I dub it a minor annoyance. If anything, my K/D and W/L have gone up since implementation of 3rd person view and I don't use it at all. There are worse issues, and the game is constantly changing, and in most cases even improving (Gauss desaster aside).
Personally, I have gotten my 60$ worth of fun and then some on top. I regret nothing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

And I disagree.

But what I really meant was that it's harder to have fun the higher your expectations are. Which is why I don't kickstart and which is why I generally have problems to enjoy movies as much as my friends do.
Me? I expect stompiness with nice graphics and sound effects, paired with cool Mech models and a variety of maps. I got all of those.
I'm not going to disagree that the game has issues, some of them pretty bad, but for me, the fun factor is still way higher.

And I can't stop laughing about the people who waste their time flooding the MWO forums with their vitriol when they should just stop and think about how many hours of enjoyment they actually got, how much money they paid for these hours and maybe just move on.

Same here, yes the game isn't what we were told it was going to be and PGI did screw things up but its just a video game and a free one at that.

This twice.

But if they stopped then I couldn't my daily entertainment watching people rage and rage and cry about a VIDEO GAME that is SUPPOSED to be played for FUN.

That said, I'm really jonesin' for MWO and I should finally get a computer tomorrow night, hopefully I can get it all downloaded and set to play... next week... I live in the land of poor download speeds.

My trick for enjoying games like MWO (or WoT, or War Thunder, etc) is to play with no expectations, I don't care about my ratios, I always PUG and, most importantly, I usually play drunk. At lest in MWO I can't get instagibbed from across the map 10 seconds in like happens sometimes in World of Tanks.

War Thunder I'll give you, but I've only got a few dozen hours into it.

Not World of Tanks.

In my opinion.

WOT is further along in developement and balancing and has the tinkering that's close enough to a MechLab.

Ok, I'll give you some of that. Although I don't think the tinkering is quite enough to feel as close to mech lab for me.

My big problem with "blanace" is the whole tech difference. I cannot stand lining up a good, solid, rear shot on an enemy tank only to realize that since they are "better" (especially if its a real $ bought one) I cannot even damage them no matter how much I shoot. And the grind to get my M4 Sherman.. ugh, that M3 Lee is so aweful.

So it may be balanced, but I find it much less fun most of the time. To each their own, naturally.

I used to play WoT, but goddamn the game is pretty terribly balanced. World of Warplanes struck me as goofy and too arcade-y for the subject matter.

MWO has its issues, but it's still fun as hell and not terribly imbalanced. In the long run they might be overreaching, and probably are missing some great possibilities in exchange for some unlikely ones. But the core gameplay of stomping around in a giant Battlemech, peppering the countryside with lasers, and getting a rush out of plowing through the middle of the battlefield, losing limbs, ignoring heat warnings and critical damage klaxons and common sense, yet somehow coming out on top left with only a barely-functioning medium laser -- well, that's just great.

I recommend ignoring pretty much everything on the forums, and try not to worry too much. For all the doom and gloom, the game still works pretty well. And for all the end-of-the-world bashing of the third-person view, in the last dozen matches I've played I think I've seen the little floaty third-person drone on other people a grand total of twice. Most people don't use it.
