The only thing TW won't check is his cyberware. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Intuition(4) + Perception (3) + Vision Enhancement(3) = 6 hits. Wow. Hope I don't need that roll later in a firefight.

I only just noticed this, so I can understand why it's been wrong. My runner's handle is Gardner, not Gardener, it is a purposeful misspelling/play on words as you would get from my intro for him.

Perception as I enter the club: 3 dice base /+ possible 3 (Audio/Visual) -> 1 success either way.

Gardner only carries his staff and a stungun, and he will check both along with his coat if he seems expected to do so. No arguments if the bouncer lets him in straight away without doing so though.

If I had a bit of a thumb on security before heading in, do I know what sort of magical coverage they have? I'm trying to decide if I would be able to get away with having my sustaining focus active. If I'm not sure, I will err on the safe side and go in without anything active.

If I don't think I'll be troubled by it, I will have my Increase Reflexes spell (Force 3; +2 Init, +2 Passes) sustained by my Focus:
Spellcasting - 11 dice (9 + 2 from mentor) -> 4 successes (capped at 3)
Drain - 9 dice -> 4 successes (negates drain of 3)

Damn. Tundra Wolf sees everything and then some. You easily spot the various bouncer types stationed around the perimeter of Underworld, but you also notice several others that must surely be security with how they are scan the room as they circulate among the crowd though they are much more subtle about it. Seems like quite a lot of security for an underground concert, even with Mercurial being the star that she is.

Both the bar on the first floor and the smaller bar on the second floor are pretty packed with people. A number of the patrons are hovering around the seating area like vultures, waiting to claim any table that goes unoccupied for even a nanosecond. Up on the second floor where the group is sitting the tables mostly have reserved ARO's like your own table. So you don't have to worry about that yourselves. Of the tables around you, there is a wide range of patrons, a local celebrity couple is taking up two tables with their entourage, some college kids that are already well into their drinks takes up another, a salaryman who must of spent a months wages to get tickets has a table to himself somehow, and one more table has two couples that must be on a double date from the lovey-dovey eyes two of them are making at each other.

Towering over the stage that takes up the far south wall with huge video displays and SOTA AR displays is "the Beast", an enormous ten-meter high, bald and bullet-headed statue that has served as teh unofficial mascot of Underworld 93 for over two decades. Lasers shoot from the statue's eyes, smoke billows up around it, neolux tubing running the length of the statue bathes it in an eerie neon glow, and AR holograms wrap the sculpture in glowing, flashy effects. From its belly, a massive speak blasts out music while the crowd waits for Emerald Cacophony to open for Mercurial.

Anything else you'd be paying particular attention to?

The salariman is going to get a closer look before I enter the area. Also, seeing how many people are moving like him when his reflexes are on.

For the perception test you called for inside the club: (Perception (2) + Sensors (3) + Vision Enhancement (3) = 3 hits).

Tundra Wolf, on closer inspection its obvious why the salariman has as table to himself. He's being an ass to anybody that tries to come up to the table to take a seat. When the waitress brings another him another soybeer to add to his collection, he belligerently snatches it from her and tells her to bring him another. It's obvious from the look she gives him that she'll be taking a good long time before she comes back.
You definitely wouldn't say he moves like he has in 'ware or other talents to make him a threat. For how miserable and angry he is, you certainly don't understand why he's at this concert though.

In the rest of the crowd, one or two of those subtle security agents may have some wiring, but it's hard to tell in the mass of the crowd. They definitely have some training in the way they blend in and the way they move denotes that they know how to handle themselves in a fight. Everybody else seems to just be their for the show. It's largely high society types and not your typical denizens of the shadows in here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Legs Actually gets escorted by a pair of security guards into a back hallway because the building only has one elevator. You spot MacCallister talking to Mercurial backstage, but there is no way you're getting any closer right now. Security is keeping a pretty close eye on anybody coming remotely close to the star. There's an obvious smile of friendship when she's talking to Mac, who is smiling too though his eyes are a little nervous and constantly scanning the area.

You're surprised to notice that MacCallister has an honest to god cyberdeck strapped to his arm with an old school fiber cable leading to the datajack in his head. How does he even use that thing after the second Crash?

A short ride up in the elevator later (you notice that there are no buttons inside or outside of the elevator) gets you to the second floor and Cindy guides you back into the noisy club and up to a table with what you assume to be the other runners already there.

Slacker, just to confirm - you said that none of us know each other. is it safe to assume that none of us know /of/ each other?

The shadows are pretty dark and each of your backgrounds is pretty different. So I'd say you haven't come across each other's names per say. Maybe if you were to start talking about jobs you've been on in the past you'd recognize that, but that wouldn't be all that professional to talk about previous shadowruns would it?

On a side note.

I TOTALLY should have submitted my SR4 take on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for this. And if he had been ready in time, I would have.

C'est la vie. Maybe next time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Slacker, did you miss my post? it looks like I ended up posting it right before one of yours. I asked a few questions, wanted to confirm a bit before I post my IC entrance into the club...

Indeed, I did miss your post. Sorry about that. Gardner knows MacCallister had already hired a local magic circle to put up a ward around the building. He was going to have you provide onsite astral/magical security. With his new priorities for you, he possibly found some other mage to handle that. If so, you suspect that an active combat spell would attract quite a lot of of attention. A quick astral perception would show a couple watcher spirits, but no other active spells among the patrons.

Your perception roll didn't garner much more than the basic layout of the club.

Gardner will go in without casting anything then. His taser is likely still in his coat pocket when he checks it, unless they specifically ask for him to hand in weapons separately.

Obviously there's lots of screaming at this point and a mass exodus towards the exits for everybody on the second floor and many below you on the first floor too. A quick glance will show you that the security guards are all currently getting held back by the press of the crowd. So it looks like this situation is up to all of you to handle. At least for the moment.

Right now we aren't in initiative. Not until somebody decides to take a combat action. You guys could try talking him down. You could just run like the rest of the patrons, you could duck underneath your table. It's all up to you.

Somehow I see the next 30 seconds or so causing considerable friction between Gardner and TW. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) How close is he to our table, and is he facing us?

The runner's table is highlighted in red. Because Gardner was specifically facing the entrance. This is all happening directly behind him. The green dot is the shooter, the pink dot is the hysterically screaming college girl, the blue dot is the boyfriend bleeding out on the floor (you can't tell if he's dead or just seriously injured, but there certainly seems to be a lot of blood).

They are approx 3-4 meters away from your group (each square is supposed to be 2 meters). So they are very close, though the other couple that was at that table are in shock and haven't moved from their seats that are in between you and the shoot.

Out of curiosity Slacker, what's your take on a chameleon suit/FFBA's bulk? Ideally, I'd like to have worn one or the other under street clothes. FFBA seems made for it, and a chameleon suit seems like it'd be similarly body huggy and wouldn't increase one's bulk by a noticeable amount. Obviously, without what I assume is a full mask on the chameleon suit actually on, using it to be sneaky/stealthy is probably a no go. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Also: Perception (though at this point, seems kinda pointless, heh)
Intuition (3) + Perception (1) + Vision Enhancement (3) (7d6.hits(5)=4)

Quixote can get inside while wearing both the chameleon suit and/or FFBA. The guards are really only concerned with people bringing in weapons, and with the press of people trying to get in they wave you right on through.

Since I posted the new action before you got a chance to roll perception, I'll give it to you as a perception roll for the current situation. You notice that the boyfriend on the floor was shot in the shoulder and is still alive. You also notice that he has pissed himself and doing a miserable job at playing dead because his whole body is shaking in fear.

Also, you can see that the guards are going to be kept pretty busy trying to keep people from trampling each other on their way to the exit. A couple of them have guns out, but that's only causing more confusion and fear in the crowd. You don't see how they are going to be able to get a clear shot off for the next few minutes.

Dicing him is my first instinct, but Q wouldn't want to sour the meet with the Johnson by leaving the corpse of a sarariman that he has to clean up. Gonna wait for someone else to post (since I just did) but I figure trying to talk him down, then taking him down non-lethally is the way to go. Considering we're all, for the most part, unarmed, that shouldn't be too difficult. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Heh, non-lethal isn't really in TW's vocabulary. Cyber-Implant blade 5, Unarmed 2. Hmmm. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cyber.gif)

I threw a post in there. I'm game for whatever- I'll try talking to him, if get ends up catching a bullet though, that's alright too.

I'm taking it a little slow- don't want to cut out anyone. If I need to adjust or modify, someone say so.

Fortunately, someone thought to bring non-lethal weaponry. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) My question is, where is Legs in relation to the gunman (behind, to the side, etc.)?
