Yeah, Quixote's in. Though he thinks MacCallister is being a bit of a skinflint, it's always nice to have an old school fixer owe you one.

Sorry, I was away for a few hours there... If possible I would have tried to aid the test with MacCallister to up the pay a bit.
Negotiations: 2 hits (4 if my Loyalty with Mac factors in) Gardner will accept the job though. When it comes to figuring out how to do the job, Gardner will mention that anything concrete to link us to Ms. Craig would help. A more recent picture, a video feed, anything. If it helps, I bought Facial Recognition sensor software. I originally got it for my drone, but would I be able to lend the chip or something for someone else to run? I'm not exactly concrete on how that stuff works. Particularly Sensor Software, there isn't really much info on how it functions. I assume it is just software that helps augment sensors, and it needs to be run by the comm that controls the sensors, but I could be wrong. |

Gardner, basically your successes on the Negotiation test are just what I gave you guys credit for. MacCallister actually had rolled 4 successes on his 10 dice. I was just being generous.
He apologizes for not having more information, but she has been living over seas for years and his client doesn't have anything more recent than before she left Seattle right after college. He does mention that personally he would check on cab dispatching at SeaTac around the time her plane landed or you could always do the grunt work of calling hotels in the area until you get a hit. As far as he knows she has no reason to be using another name and she was in fact travelling under her real name with a genuine SIN. |

Hmmmz...moar jobs?! Moar shinies for buying thingies?! Quixote is okay with hearing the dwarf out. Especially if things mesh with our current job.
As for dorfy, I wouldn't mind racking my brain to see if I know anything about him potentially. Is area knowledge: Seattle a sufficient skill for doing so, or does that cover things more like where stuff is, where gangs hang out and what not? If it'll work, here's a roll. Intuition (3) + Rating (3) (6d6.hits(5)=6) Edit: Goodness, a roll like that means I'll be crit glitching in combat later! |

He turns to the dwarf. "Perhaps you can tell us more about this job offer." Mr. White glances at the chaos in front of the club, and the busy street. "But right here on the sidewalk is hardly the place. I believe there is a small cafe that offers a bit of privacy just down the block." Slacker, here's an Area Knowledge: Seattle roll. 7D6E5 => 1 I'm hoping that you'll allow Mr. White to be aware of the aforementioned cafe that has a private backroom. If its a problem, I'll amend the post. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Quixote, normally I'd say that knowledge: Seattle would be a bit too general for you to know specifics about this dwarf. But with that roll, how could I not give you some intel?
Laurent Nazaire is the head of the Seattle branch of the Atlantean Foundation. In the shadows, he has a good reputation for being down to earth and honest in his dealings. Some are suspicious of him because can't believe in anybody in this world could be that honest, but you've never heard of anything that would make you think those suspicions are valid. Mr. White knows a cafe a couple blocks away, but Laurent says this will only take a minute. I'll be posting something IC shortly to that effect. |

I find the idea of padding our payout a bit more acceptable.

Slacker, just in case you want it, here's a negotiation roll.
9D6E5 => 4 Mr. White isn't exactly angling for an immediate promise of more money, as 10k to retrieve a rock seems more than generous. However, his concern is that if the retrieval creates payment problems with the other job, he expects the dwarf to pony up. |

Laurent assures you that he is aware of your true employer, though its not his place to reveal that information, and obtaining the rock will not interfere with getting paid by MacCallister. Explaining that you are already getting paid for something so closely related to his own task, he doesn't feel that additional funds would be appropriate. He's very polite regarding this, but also very decisive.

Oh and Fiona had not mentioned the rock needing any special handling or care. He assumes that if it did she would have mentioned that for him to be prepare when they were scheduled to meet and discuss it.

That's all well and good, and I of course value input from the other players...
Mr. White is not inclined to commit, since there's a possibility that the dwarf's task could cause problems with the first task. So for his part, he'll promise to keep it in consideration during their task, but won't promise to retrieve it, unless I need to do a social defense roll (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) |

Give me a Judge Intentions roll for when Laurent is telling you that it won't conflict with your job from MacCallister if you're that suspicious. Quixote at least knows Laurent's reputation as always dealing straight.
Also, remember the MacCallister specifically said you didn't have to bring Fiona to him. His client is only interested in assurances that she is safe. |

Here's why I'm hesitant, just for clarity.
Mr. Smith: "Hey, slacker flew in from the airport last night but we haven't seen him since. Go figure out where he went." Mr. Jones: "Hey, slacker has a mcguffin with him, that he was bringing to me. Can you get it from him and bring it to me?" This assumes two things: 1. That the mcguffin was meant for Mr. Jones ni the first place. And 2. that slacker will be fine with parting with the mcguffin. Heh, like the fun twist: "Soandso has some cybernetics that I want, can you retrieve them?" Twist: the cybernetics are INSTALLED. |

I do understand the hesitation, but as far as Mr. White can judge intentions, this guy is on the level. You go so far as to say that he doesn't even appear to be holding anything back or trying to conceal even the smallest detail. You can certainly see why some shadowrunners would be suspicious of this level of honesty. It's unheard of in the world you know. Despite that, you judge that he absolutely believes there will be no conflict between you giving him the rock and you getting paid for finding Fiona for MacCallister.
Take that as you will. You are welcome to tell him no, yes, maybe, to go to hell. Whatever you want. He is very polite no matter what you say and will thank you for hearing him out. |

Judge Intentions -> 3 hits.
Assist Negotiations -> 1 hit I would say we should at least take his card and tell him that if we find this obsidian shard he is looking for, that we'll look into contacting him. Slacker, if I can work in something to try and see if Nazaire has a recent picture of Ms. Craig, I will. Not sure what sort of skill that is, but I have the Influence Group so I'm assuming that probably covers most of it. Edit: Etiquette -> 1 hit; glitch (ouch) |

Just like Mr. White, Gardner judges Nazair's words to be true and he appears guileless in this.
The assist on negotiations was to little effect. I'll go ahead and say he can provide you with a picture of the rock. It's sitting on a velvet cloth with next to a Greek coin (for size reference). He says Fiona had provided this in her initial contact asking for a meeting. It appears to be smooth on the outside and jagged on the inside. It looks like a perfectly ordinary chunk of obsidian to you. Trying to get him to provide a picture of Fiona would probably be Etiquette, but he doesn't have one and the glitch means that he's starting to get a little impatient. He would like to conclude this meeting and move on with his evening. Time to give him an answer... |

Forgot to mention, you'd judge the rock is about the size of a grapefruit based off the image he provided.

Unless someone else gives a good reason why we can't tell him that we'll at least look for the Shard, Gardner will accept Laurent's offer. He will do so saying that "if we find such an available item, we will contact you."
The way I see it, it doesn't hurt to give him a tentative "yes". Oh, and saying that a Johnson is playing us for fools, in front of him, not the best way to get on his good side... |

Oh, I know that, but I'm pretty sure I've got a CHA stat higher than 2, and haven't just had someone shot right next to me when I was expecting an easy night at a concert.

heh, true.
So assuming we don't have any more social hoops to jump to accept the job from Nazaire, anyone have an idea where we can go to start planning? |

Well, how good is the picture MacCallister gave us? I could summon a Plant Spirit and it could search for her, assuming I have an accurate enough image of her to have "seen" her before.
If I need a more recent picture, I will suggest that our hacker try to find something. Like I said, I have some Facial Recognition software, which could aid a Browse test or some such. Or, since the picture of the obsidian is a bit more clear, I could try using the search on the shard, but it's a bit more difficult... Any other ideas? |

Walk around whistling and calling "Heeeeerrre, Fiona!"? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif)
Levity aside, I'd think the airport is our best bet to start. |
