To Jack: "Fucking amateur. That won't kill you if you quit poking at it. If there is an intercom system for this building, tell your guards to stand down over that. If not, do they have commlinks?" To Gardner: "Can you come and get this рёва to stop bleeding everywhere?" When Mr.White's commcall comes in, TW will tell him to lay low, the situation is still hot. There is no intercom. Remember the orks had to walk up and down the stairs to relay messages to Jack when Mr. White and you came to talk to him. And none of them have commlinks either. |

Huh, I just thought that was because Jack was an egotistical wanker.
edit: Well, let's think of a way to get the rabid horde on the other side of the door to stand down without necessarily needing to kill them all. TW has no compunction with killing them, but large body counts will make the other smugglers nervous. |

(Sorry for the delay in posting) Gardner's first priority when the Spirit doesn't attack is to check on Fiona. He does this while still keeping a wary eye on the spirit in case it tries anything. I'll check Fiona for any wounds, and assense her aura to make sure. Pretty routine stuff. Once I'm sure Fiona is safe and sound, then I'll go to Jack and see about possibly saving his hand (mostly so he'll stop whining). I'll be taking my time, maybe check to see if the ork is possible to save (say a short prayer under my breath if he is already dead). While I'm moving over (so not while I'm next to Jack), I will subvocalize to Tundra Wolf to look for where he might have hid the stone. "No point in letting this entire endeaver go to waste. Look for the stone, we'll deal with the guards if and when they make it through here." I'll see if Jack has a commlink or something, I'm guessing the guards have phones too. While I'm patching him up, I'll grab his comm and hold it up for him to talk into it. "Now, calmly tell them to stand down, don't make my friend here kill more of your men..." As you are checking on Fiona's health, you start hearing muffled pistol fire from beyond the security door, but there's certainly nothing strong enough to get through the door. Thudding impacts into the wall next to the door make TundraWolf a little nervous though. Fiona doesn't have any serious wounds. She has some bruising on the face and other areas of her body, but nothing too bad. She does however show signs of extreme dehydration. Her aura reads as if she hasn't eaten, drunk, or slept in nearly 3 days now and there is the distinct scent of dried feces and piss coming from her clothing. Overall, you'd say what she needs most is water, food, and sleep; in that order. As Gardner moves into the living room the gun fire from the stairwell has stopped. He's able to very quickly tell that the ork guard is deceased. He says a quiet prayer over the body and moves on towards Jack, who cringes away from the massive figure looming over him. That's when TundraWolf and Gardner both hear a soft metalic clinking against the base of the security door followed by some rapid thuds that quickly fade, perhaps feet running down the stairs very quickly? ---------- What is TundraWolf doing while Gardner is doing his healing thing? Covering Jack still or trying to search the rooms for the morel stone? |

With any luck that grenade they just tossed at the door will blow the stairs away in front of it. You guys may have to go out the window after all.

Covering Jack. When the pistol fire starts hitting the doorway, he'll remove the magazine from the AK and insert one of the two fresh ones. The one with 12 rounds left will be dropped on the floor behind him.
The fire elemental is still there, right? |

I'm not saying it is a grenade, but were it to be a grenade, you're probably right that it would seriously damage the stairs as well as the walls surrounding the metal security door, which don't appear to be reinforced at all. |

Well, if the door is blown in, have the elemental standing there waiting for them. That might at least make them consider a headlong charge into the room.

And I have some supplies in my bag so I can give her at least a little water and some nutrisoy. I make sure she takes it slow and doesn't gorge herself. I'll make sure I'm not near the door after hearing those noises, but I will ready myself for if the door does get blown out. Maybe duck down behind a table or something, but I'm not running away or anything. |

Glad you thought to mention that you untied her, because i was totally going to have you needing to pick her up chair and all if you have to flee. lol. At this point Fiona has slumped into unconsciousness. So anything you were trying to get her to eat or drink will have to be forced down her. If you are spending the time to untie her and try to feed her, the clinking at the security door would be happening as you walked up to the dead or to say a prayer over him. ------------ Please take a look at the map and tell me where both Gardner and TundraWolf are. https://www.dropbox.com/s/po5klmsqk95liv5/J...ouse_Floor2.png Also, Mr. White, where exacty did you go running off to? Are you still in the alley behind Jack's place? Or did you leave the area completely? |

I thought about going to the roof, but inevitably you'd call for some kind of athletics rolls. So instead, I'm looking for a doorway or something nearby. |

TW is between the sofa and the big trid unit by the back wall, in roughly the middle of it. I moved there when I told Jack I'd kill him first. It might give me a little cover if/when this goes back to a shooting fight, and I'm close enough to give Jack what's coming too him if necessary.
edit: Just had a thought. Perhaps we put Jack between the sofa and the table, and have him tell them to stand down when they enter. They might have some qualms about trying to shoot around him. |

There's not enough time for you guys to really discuss plans in between hearing the metalic sound and the explosive sound 3 seconds afterwards. Basically, was just trying to figure out your general position and your first instinctive action. Is it to duck behind cover or to step closer to Jack, haul him up off the ground and toss him over between the sofa and table? That's really all you have time for. |

They may not even be able to get up the stairs. If its a metal stairway like you find commonly in warehouses (or worse, wood), it would likely be shredded by the grenade, and may not even hold their weight to climb the stairway. Even if they can get up it, they won't be "charging" up the stairs.

3 seconds later the entire building is shaken with an explosion. You all hear screams, but the explosion is so loud that you can't even tell if it's yourself screaming or the ork's downstairs that seriously underestimated the power of a grenade in a confined space.
The security door was blasted not only clean off it's hinges, but through the outer wall and sailing into the alley on a few meters from where Mr. White was crouching. The blast had reverberated off the structural wall between Jack's warehouse and the adjacent building increasing the blasts force even further. The wall between the living room and the stairwell was obliterated with a hail of flying fragments. The stairs....well the stairs just aren't there any more. The dead ork guard's body is nowhere to be seen, it may have been destroyed or simply fallen down to the first floor as most of the floor between the door and the sofa is gone. The table got slammed back against the sofa and is now of the verge of slipping down due to the very distinct listing of the floor towards the gaping hole. Black smoke fills the room and you are all quite disoriented. The wall between buildings seems to mostly have held, though you can see gabs here and there where the holes cut sheer through the structural material. The back wall of Jack's place now has a great big smoldering hole to the outside. What ceiling is left over the blast is either trying to fall in apon itself or catching fire. ---------------- Gardner will need to make a Gymnastics test for any movement trying to move away from his position as the floor just doesn't have enough structure to hold his bulk very well. Thankfully, you guys were out of the blast radius and at most have some scratches from debris. ----------- So, what are you doing now? Is somebody actually holding on to Jack? If not he's trying to flee the hell out of there. |

Agility 7 + Unarmed Combat 2 = 4 hits.
Edit: Whoops, forgot to take the -1 penalty for the 4 boxes of stun. So, 3 hits. |

Fear and adrenaline propel Jack with such force that you don't even come close to catching him in your grasp (the dice roller apparently felt sorry for him, he got 9 hits on his full dodge roll). He dashes right past you faster than he ever thought he could move, into the other room, leaping out the window without even looking. Though there was nothing at all graceful about his movement, there's no denying that he was moving fast. |

Well crap.
Unless we spot the stone, or the spirit will tell us where it is, I suspect we're following Jack. Besides, that is the only good exit at the moment. |

As Jack was running out he was repeatedly calling out for the spirit to protect him. The spirits eyes see one again focused on TundraWolf who just tried to grab Jack. |
