To clarify: Gardner isn't wearing fur. It's worse, he has loose cat fur on his clothes from his pet cat... probably not much, but with a severe allergy you are probably pretty sensitive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) Also, wouldn't crashing into the building 17 meters down still put you below the party? And that's assuming you can get up to the proper speed in the first place. That suit is meant to be used while free-falling at terminal velocity... AaaaaaChhhooo ! ... cat you say ? /sniff ...aaahgadsnooo I may have to be a tad more specific with the allergy, upon reading it a bit further (or take multiples of the less severe case to accomodate all animals?) QUOTE ( SR4 page 94) Uncommon : The substance or condition is rare for the local environment. Examples: silver, gold, seawater in a landlocked campaign setting (like Denver). as I take Physical damage from them .. basically it attacks my face and I'm helpless to fend it off so in keeping with the other qualities, I am compelled to avoid tiny pocket based dogs (Neo-Chowowas) damn teh ex-wife .. s'all her fault but I do not like animal fur, as it gives me the acchoos! --------------- I'm aiming for anything is better than front door at present, just because of my attire and general demeanour and obviously I haven't entirely thought through the plan ... so yes there's a good chance that it goes horribly wrong ... but wing suits can and are used for base jumping and other low altitude activites .. not just terminal velocity |

Like 20 seconds has passed, IC, right? I think we've barely communicated with each other thusfar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) White could probably talk his way in, without a ticket. If he goes in with a ticket, that leaves everyone else to figure out how to get in. Which I'm sure that they're perfectly capable of. How about some tabletalk, folks? Opinions? White can do the old "Let us in, we're here for X thing" and try to bluff/con his way into the building with the whole team... 2-3 minutes have passed as you all have each made your way to the roof's edge to peer down at the balcony, walk around a little to see what else you can see of the front entrance/roof of the Horizon building, make some phone calls and data search, as well as introducing yourselves to each other and just trying to come up with ideas on how to do this. It's going to take you several minutes to get back down the the base of the Yojirushi building, a few more minutes to get in through the security check at the front door, a few more minutes to get up to the floor of the party, with possibly more checkpoints along the way depending on their security. So, like I said, if Mr. White is planning to talk his way in, he needs to already start moving towards that end. And maybe he will make it within the 15 minutes the team was given. |

I'll be heading downstairs with White. If I'm going in, it won't be over a rope or anything...

So, then, you don't want me to try and hack into the Horizon nodes and force the door open? Or potentially put us on the guest list?
EDIT: I guess not. Mr. White left without waiting for an answer. |

I'm all ears. I think hacking our way in or talking our way in are both viable options. Mr. White is a man of action; and yet I'm not trying to plow over any players. Besides, white is merely heading downstairs, which we'll all have to do anyway if we want to take advantage of any open doors. If you wanna hack a door, we can certainly alter our plans as we ride the elevator down.
Meta, we're almost completely blind right now. No real idea of security inside, physical or matrix or magical or otherwise. There could be a dozen guards inside the entrance, or some sort of monster Black ICE guarding in the matrix. We won't know till we knock on the door. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) Yes, floorplans would help! White's plan is to get the party into the building on a ruse. They're here to fix security cameras, or the plumbing, or the chef forgot the crème brûlée, or whatever. |

I'll be heading downstairs with White. If I'm going in, it won't be over a rope or anything... As you start heading to follow Mr. White, you trip over a bag that somehow nobody noticed previously. Looking inside you find ten sets of rappelling gear and gloves, a grapple gun with 200m of micro-wire, and a 500m reel of micro-wire attached to a grapple assembly. Metagaming: All you are looking at is resisting 4S damage at most on the other end of the zip line. And that is only if you fail a Climbing + Str (2) test to stop yourself. |

Silas glumly follows after grabbing his gear, the freight elevator is gonna be REALLY awkward on the way down as the fight enters round two, Four people and a giant squashed into half the space to avoid the contortionist ork... " awww Drekk this, THINK FAST PEOPLE !" He drops his lined coat to the ground, grabs his silenced pistol and fires a rapid burst at a darkened window a few floors below the party. Holstering the gun he steps back for decent run up and prays to any kind of deity that might be lstening. "COOOOOWWAAAABUUUUNNGGAAAAAAAA,!" Shit. |

I believe our little friend has gone and done something rash.
Yes, I did just quote C-3PO. Deal with it. edit: Kiir, you might as well just let him jump. The bullets impacting the building somewhere between the 19th and 27th floor have already blown any chance of surprise. |

Okay, how do we use this to our advantage, then? Try the back door, and hope the surge of security heading towards the thrill-seeking ork nutjob lets us get in (relatively) unscathed?

No, I'm rolling with Gardner having stopped him before he made it off the roof, that and/or he stumbled trying to walk around in that ridiculous suit.
The window he shot at was for a darkened (meaning off hours) floor of the building with nobody currently there. Not even sure if the shots shattered the window. For now, the mission can still go forward, but should a patrol come by, the alert would be sounded. More than ever it's important for you guys to make some fast decisions. |

Let's all hold off on more IC posts for the moment please.
The mission is not fragged. If Silas was seriously doing that, Gardner was able to stop him from leaping at the last second. SIlas would also need to roll to actually hit a window with some penalties considering the distance the bulky wingsuit and the horrendous winds gusting between the buildings to see if he actually penetrated the reinforced windows. |

Yeah yeah, point taken and pink Mo' is put back in the closet. For the record, pistol fitted with gel rounds, Thoroughly ineffective (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I'll get dressed in the elevator |

Ok, here goes nothing.
I'm attempting to Hack into one of the hidden nodes I found earlier. One that is connected to the building itself, preferably closest to the doors and/or security system. I'm going to attempt to give myself an admin account. This is an extended test with a threshold equal to the target nodes' Firewall + 6 (due to wanting admin access). As soon as I hit the threshold, I'm considered to be logged on with that access - no Log On action needed. Every attempt I make - considering I'm Hacking on the Fly - allows the target system a free roll of Analyze + Firewall, with a target equal to my Stealth (6). This is considered an Extended test as well; if the target node hits the threshold an alert is generated, even if my hacking attempt is successful. Remember that the target node only gets to add Analyze IF the Analyze program is already running on that node. I am quite sure it is, but just want to throw that out there. Commlink Stats: Response 5, Signal 6, Firewall 6, System 6; Hardening 6, Non-Standard Wireless Link 6, Customized Interface Running Programs: Stealth 6, Exploit 6, Spoof 6, Command 6 Response Degradation: None until I hit 5 loaded programs Test 1: 17d6.hits(5) = 5 Test 2: 16d6.hits(5) = 7 Normally I'd stop here as I've 12 hits, and most thresholds even with the +6 modifier aren't going to be 12+. But this is Horizon we're talking about, so I'll add another roll in the event iti is needed. Test 3: 15d6.hits(5) = 7 That's 19 hits across 3 tests. If that's not enough, then this thing is going to be a pain in my ass. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) EDIT: It's a little jacked up, but I edited my post to reflect what Needle is doing AFTER Mr. White speaks. Sorry, but I originally posted a reaction to the ork plunging off the roof, but I got ninja'ed. I can delete and re-post after Mr. White if possible. Although, this does bring up something. We really should slow down here OOC and discuss things. This isn't the right mission to start doing that, but in the future maybe? I'd hate to see our ork become a pancake. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Sadly, Needle is not having a good time in the matrix. Before she can even make the second attempt at hacking her way into the node, the Firewall slams down hard with an alert. (On 16 dice it got 7 hits) |
