I am back again, working on a character for a different game this time then the ones previous. (The Mage I have been running has been working beautifully.)

I am working on a Shapeshifter, Mystic Adept Druid from the Athabaskan Council, and I am trying to find some negative qualities that would be interesting to RP, and I sort of need the BP. I am not focusing on summoning at all.

The focus for combat is melee, being a Shapeshifter Bio and Cyberware are avoided entirely and will always be avoided (So any negative qualities about those are not up for discussion) But I would love to discuss some other negative qualities for the character.

Books:
SR4, Augmentation, Arsenal, Street Magic, Running Wild, and Runner's Companion.

Have you considered the Media Junkie quality? There are several stories of people becoming obsessed with television after being introduced to it for the first time, and I can't imagine that things have gotten less addictive with the corps in charge.

..may i ask what type of shapeshifter?..
..as qualities go: always so useful (and argumented) In Debt, Unusual Hair (fur,Full body)(covered everything even in human form)
(and being Shapeshifter, you are getting a Distinctive Style anyway, no points given for that one)
Enemy (someone do not like Shapeshifters, or maybe other type of Shapeshifter,,cats and dogs)
Prejudiced

Heh, apparantly I did not say, Fox is what I had planned on going with, also it is pre-surge (2050s setting, if that helps give people a better idea)

Bounty Hunters could be interesting, I did picture her, being a druid, as a bit of an Eco-Fighter and that alone could have pissed some corps off if she used her magic adn fighting ability to kick some teeth in at points.

Prejudiced I had thought of but I could not think of what she would be against

Same issue with Signature, I had looked it over but I am not sure what. Other than I do plan on you know, killing people with Tomahawks(Hand axes, essentially)

Shifters weren't recognized until after 2050 in most jurisdictions so Sinner probably isn't a good one. Also, if it was me GMing, I'd say your prejudice is too narrow in scope. Look at the examples in the book. Even the specific groups listed are going to be more common than feline shifters. How often do you think you are going to run into them in game? The GM could start throwing them your way but it would seem a little odd that suddenly Lion shifters are showing up everywhere.
Have you considered Dependant? If she is a sort of eco-warrior maybe she got that way because of her kits (yes baby foxes, I spelled that right). She wants to leave a better world for them. Or if not dependant, lost loved one and someone has swiped her child/children. She wants them back.
I'm thinking of stuff that would be motivating for an animal rather than a person since shifters are animals that can take human form rather than the other way around. So think food, shelter, family or at least reproduction, rather than the sort of social constructs humans might go for (money, power, social standing).

..yeah, that would work..metahumanity is common target group (10 bp), taking radical level (15 bp) just would suit just fine
and combining it with combat monster (10 bp) + low willpower...
adepts can take mentor spirit, taking one that make her go berserk( if wounded/wound enemy (Shark and Bear) in combat would top it..

Yeah, I plan on playing ashifter as though they are the animal because that is the way they are meant to be. Sure she has worked with people, and is now going to be working with a Shadowrunning Team(From what I know of the team, the ideals fit.)

The Dependents thing I can work with but I have to justify why one would have run down to Seattle(Considering I planned to be from Alaska), I wanted to do Arctic Fox. Though I admit, Seattle would be a nice place to hide out, and she would be able to raise the kits there for there childhood and then plan as they age to the right point to send them back to Alaska.

Edit:
Shapeshifters mature at the normal rate for there species, but live lives comparable to orcs(In length) Fox kits(Specifically in this case Arctic) mate in about 9 months. Making the Dependent flaw a little harder to work with but possible. I do not know time wise how long the game will run on for in game time. Though it can always be bought of later after they have matured.

(10bp) I am still on the hunt some good Negative qualities, I have Wanted involving her former Athabaskan Eco-Fighter activities.

(5bp ) Aspected Magician: Sorcerer (Mys Adept and I tend to focus mostly on Sorcery anyway. No Conjuration.) We tweaked how it works so it is only -2 to all non-sorcery rolls. All the aspected flaws were modified (Also gives a+2 to all sorcery group). So for 5 BP, taking a -2 to a lot of magical stuff for a +2 to the sorcery group in this case is worth it.

(10bp) Simsense Vertigo: Page 95 of SR4A if you do not know how it works.

I am thinking over the Depend flaw since foxes grow up so fast, they are born in spring and expected to be independent by Winter.

Physically independent your cubs may be, but mentally prepared to deal with metahumanity? I do believe it would be harder than caring for a normal child. Much.

I will have to think about the dependent but I am going over other possible idea, I am looking at the Poor Self Control and Prejudice qualities at the moment. if she was prejudice I would not want it to be against Metahumans because then why would she bother working with an Two Elves, and and orc. Also two humans in the group(Were a fairly large team)

I have been avoiding a lot of the Techie Ones, since she has ltitle use for them other than her Commlink which hold a Fake SIN for her to use, and for companions to contact her. I do not want Uncouth, Illiterate or Uneducated even though some of those could fit.

If I gave her a poor self control, I want to avoid Vindictive, Combat Monster I am not sure I would want to go to either

That leaves me with Compulsive Moderate to High Danger but I am not sure what some good compulsive behaviors for a Fox would be. (Foxes are of the Canidae family, wolves, dogs and the sort) But they are known to hunt more like cats.

Foxes tend to be monogamous, with the mother giving birth in the early summer and raising there kits until that winter, where the kits go out on there own (By next breeding season, kits will be sexually mature, they mature at 9-12 months).

In Shadowrun Shapeshifters are the animal, just able to assume a metahuman form. Genetically they are that animal and it is only by magic that they are different. So a Shapeshifters children are not always likely to be Shapeshifters themselves but could just be regular foxes.

Diet consists of Lemmings, Eggs, scavaging from other kills, baby seals, and berries and other vegetation if needed.

I thought I would post up some info on foxes so more brainstorming in a positive direction could be done.

If you don't want Dependant then Lost Loved One could work for missing kits. Also Thrill Seeker is viable for a fox. You would need to have at least a little of that anyway just to want to hang with meta-humans. After all, that isn't normal animal behaviour.

Poor Self Control sounds great for a shifter, especially some variant of Compulsive. I've had similar characters who compulsively speak whatever's on their mind, just because they've never really had any use for metahuman social niceties.

There are always different reasons that a character might be prejudiced; "stupid two-legs ruining nature" wouldn't be out of place for a shifter to think. Likewise, the lowest level of the Prejudice quality uses a "closet meta-hater" as an example, so she wouldn't have to be a Humanis-level lunatic. Smugly superior would work fine; part of the culture shock of dealing with metahumans could even be her adjusting to how different metahuman values are from animal values. ("What do you mean you can't hunt your own food?")

Why would she work with two elves, an ork and two humans if she doesn't like metahumanity? It's a bigger benefit to her than not doing so, exactly the same way that people don't tell off the boss they hate because they don't want to get fired. Over time, that can also become her being willing to see their good sides as people rather than just going "all metahumans are the same".

tl;dr: Yes, she has to have a reason to work with metahumans to be playable, but that doesn't mean doing so has to be familiar or comfortable. The entire point of playing a shifter (IMO) is that they're not metahuman and experience life differently because of that, no matter how accepted they are.

Prejudice (Corporate Citizens) would fit the eco-terrorist and animal parts of your background. The runner group would be your extended family on your metahuman side.

Compulsive (Hunter). 5 BP if you feel driven to hunt small vermin, 15 BP if you are rabid fox and hunt corporate guards.
