I was wondering, and i may just be missing something or being particularly dense here, but is there anything written, for any edition, which covered a Decker/Hacker copying their programs and giving them to someone else, such as another PC? Third ed makes some mention of back up copies being stored in offline storage when referring to Tar Pits, but that's the only reference I can seem to find.

Software can be copied, but it is a PITA. See Unwried p. 94 & 109.

Just make it public domain software and you can copy it all you want. Unfortunately the GM has final say on what's available as public domain.

Just buy pirated software. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It's cheaper and can be copied at your leisure. Of course, it requires constant maintenance via patches, but it's a small price to pay.
