Skills, and Skill Groups Options

While we're waiting for the PDF, can anyone make a few comments on skills, skill groups, and specializations?

I'm specifically interested in whether firearms skills got pared down, as I've always hated splitting, say, rifles and assault rifles, or shotguns and everything, as it creates unrealistic divisions, especially when you consider firing an Automatics rifle with a single shot. And that sort of thing.
