Only because you actively refuse to see any possible point.

Yes. Because it's an example of a SIMILAR thing, not an IDENTICAL thing. The 2075 distributed variant would have far, far, far, far more processing power to work with than you could hope to have locally.

You see, the Problem is that I disagree with you on this. It has absolutely nothing to do with me seeing any possible points. There are no other possible points, except what is written. There is NO OTHER REASON for the Wireless abomination but to allow Deckers to brick gear, by the Line Developer's Own Words. This is NOT an in-world development that makes a lot of sense. And it will continue to not make a lot of sense, until they fix the totally lackluster implementation that currently exists [with wireless bonuses]. Now, IT COULD HAVE BEEN AMAZING, but unfortunately, it isn't. *shrug*

The katana is one of the most beautiful weapons ever made. That alone makes it worth using.

The Katana is nice to look at (and I do have one of my own), but for sheer aesthetic beauty, I prefer the Naginata.

So in other words, anything that isn't made explicit in the book is irrelevant to you? Could have saved a lot of posts if I knew THAT earlier... Do note that this does nothing for the logical validity of your position.

Don't forget the gear porn aspect, it's folded 90 gazillion times and (because for most people, folds = awesome) better than any other steel, millennia of ancient wisdom went into the design, bla bla...

If you look at Toledo steel and the Spanish rapiers used by the Conquistadores, I'd put those rapiers up against katanas. Toledo steel had been refined over hundreds of years (thousands if you trace its origins back to the middle east), and the rapier was equally effective as a dueling weapon and from horseback.

Plus you get that stabbing bit that has been a criticism of katanas.

Hm, Feel free to call me out on this one, but if I recall correctly folding steel(or other metals in case of alloyed blades) was a way of strengthening the blade, not to make it some god cleaving edge of destruction but rather because the native japanese materials weren't the greatest and the metal tended to go brittle. This is just on top of my head, may be mistaken...
and oh, for "viking swords" the iron vikings had access to was kind of rubbing which is why bronze was way more commonly used, as you may know bronze tend to tarnish quite badly, the scandinavian steel weaponry was for the most part imported... From Spain, Portugal and the likes.

...
What? I've been here all along

I'm living in freakin' China man. And yes, it's very accepted for the hugging and hand-holding thing here.

And I take slight offense, nowhere did I imply or say that manly men hugging was a bad thing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Swords are beautiful and all, but for true beauty give me a 1911 or Browning Hi-Power.
