Anyone know if they released a 'drop time' for the game?

Well, I'm sure that as soon as it's available this topic will explode with posts. Between people happy to download it and people with questions, I'm sure we'll know very quickly, just suscribe to this topic and wait. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Let's just say I'll be staying up late tomorrow night in order to see if I can at least kick off the download.

As I understand it, DamHawke was asking for a time, note a date. I guees he knew about the release date but was wondering about a precise time in the day.

Looking at the hours on the Steam store page, if I had to hazard a guess I would say the game will be available for download approximately 10am MST when thursday. Weird, could of sworn it said 12pm the other day. Guess it's easier to just say "afternoon in the americas" and adjust it to your timezone from there.

Gaming media is really rubbing me the wrong way with this one, talking about reviving like SR is something long dead and buried...

Precisely. You're talking about, from a video game stand point. a game that hasn't seen a (real) title since the 16 bit days. I think even most gaming news realized that the SR game we saw for the 360 wasn't really SR.

I suppose we don't count "that game" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)
Still the Average Joe wouldn't know the first thing about either and wouldn't make the same conclusion you do... Don't know why I care, just part of me screaming "It's not dead! we're right over here with buckets of dice!"

Two totally different mediums. Shadowrun always had the potential to be a great (video) game series. Much like Mechwarrior, really.

Jordan Weisman made an awesome comment about that recently:

QUOTE
Max: Looking at the history of Shadowrun video games, you have the Genesis and SNES titles, and then in 2007 you have the team-based FPS. We don’t have to get into the merits of that particular title, but do you see Shadowrun as a franchise that can branch out into different genres, or do you think going back to the roots the way you have is the key to success?

Weisman: I think the universe is certainly rich enough to support different play styles. Our approach to Shadowrun was to hit the core of the RPG experience and the ability for people to tell their own stories within it. Could the universe support an action oriented title? Yes. It would have to be an action-oriented title that was more contextual and more rooted in the mythos. The digs on the 2007 product was that it was called Shadowrun but it wasn’t really well integrated into the mythos of Shadowrun. It had a ton of really innovative game mechanics, a lot of which you see reflected in the new Halo because a lot of the team is the same, so there were a lot of great mechanics there but it just didn’t have the storytelling nature and the mythos built in. But I don’t think that means you couldn’t do that in the Shadowrun universe. I don’t know if that’s our studio, that’s not what we’re set up to do, but it doesn’t mean I think it couldn’t be done well.

http://www.chud.com/141318/mcp-interview-j...returns-part-1/

Anyone who thinks that Shadowrun couldn't or shouldn't be a FPS or other action title is just being plain silly: Shadowrun is not close to "pure" in the types of games it's been in its lifetime, from tabletop RPG, to tabletop minis game, to collectible card game, to two different styles of computer RPG/adventure games, to more editions of the RPG, and to the card and board games coming up soon, plus the two new computer games.

Shadowrun is a mutt, and it's a pity the FPS didn't fit in better, setting-wise, because being an action game wasn't the problem.

I've been lusting madly after an Urban Brawl or Combat Biker FPS-type game for years.

Just had my friend try to download it from Steam... no joy. Maybe based on time zones?

Edit: well, shoot... not time-zone based (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
