Probably pick up a few more over the weekend when people get some free time to pop in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Looking good so far.

For us and CanRay, yes . . Bull on the other hand might be starting to sweat for reasons other than the weather ^^

My only problem with this is that it's more words written about Netcat. Which I do believe is a War Crime in some jurisdictions.

39 votes on JP, 28 here on DP , so just over the 2/3rd's mark. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Plus there may be a few variants as the poll there went up later in the thread so some of the initial supporters may not have voted via poll so numbers could be higher.

I should very much hope that the title of the mission and/or the plot of it is a pun on In Decent, considering the nature of the thing that started all this.

Also, I'm in. This is funny enough to warrant attention, and, hey, its one step closer to CGL listening to the customer.

Edit: You know what? I'll field this one.

Well I believe CanRay mentioned the tale was being by Slamm-O! so should prove interesting. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

A prequel? Or Slamm-O!'s naughty thoughts running rampant, which raises the question who would HE want to see NC with? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

Oh, i think we can say this pipe dreams plays out kind of like a Sprite commercial

So lots of bright colors streaking across the screen, a strong emphasis on bubbles, and lots of head shots of people drinking a lemon-lime carbonated beverage?

I am not sure if I really want to read what Canray might come up with for the actual story without plenty of brain-bleach available. BUT I would love to read about the reaction Netcat has when she finds out about Slamm-O being the "alleged" author. I could see a few of the in-game posts already in my head by the jackpoint spectators.

"I guess Slamm-O never heard the phrase about keepin' momma happy..."

Sigh. A couple bucks to buy the story in a small splat book for the sake of my fellow fans is worth it. I vote yes, even despite the lack of Armitage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

The A comes before the O. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

YAOI. YAma nashi, Ochi nashi, Imi nashi. No peak, no fall, no meaning. If it wasn't a term used to refer to male homoerotic stories, it'd actually be kind of a neat phrase to bandy about at times. That and the fact that it's been subverted from a negative criticism to a badge of honor, akin to Yankee Doodle.

What is the meaning behind the original phrase?

It was a critique of the homoerotic stories' literary quality.

Basically the critics were complaining that the works were poorly written, and were just excuses for portraying male sex. They felt the works had no "peak" or no story climax, no "fall" or no literary denouement, and were just overall meaningless romps between the sheets. Which, let's be honest, many of the founding works being thus described were.

Fans of the works adopted the term and subverted it, changing it from a negative usage to a positive one. A similar subversion occured with the phrase "otaku", at least here in America. Originally it was a highly derogatory term, and still is used that way much of the time in Japan, but high level anime fans and Japanophiles in the US began using it to apply to themselves as a sort of badge of honor, and the meaning morphed locally. The same change appears to be slowly happening within Japan itself, but not as readily.

Where as regular erotic stories were the height of cultural writing to be sure....

oh wait...

Though to be fair there is always going to be a mixed bag on this. Some writers do some fine erotic lit like Antonou while others are just meh.

I'm just reporting what I know of the history of the phrase, not passing judgement on the correctness of it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)
