My question is about cyberware:
the cyberware cost does include medical costs for the operation? Or is the price for the ware only? Is there any guidelines about it somewhere? |

Installation included.
There were rules for this in SR3, since SR4 it's all in one. |

Unless you get the IKEA Cyberware, which while a bit cheaper you have to assemble and install yourself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

It'll also have strange names, like Böster!

Well cybersurgery used to be all gritty, backalley, and dangerous. Now it's like getting an injectable marinade from the grocery store.

Not really. 7P is nothing to really scoff at and sounds pretty damn uncomfortable, but on the other hand no one's keeping you from walking out after waking up. So, unless you're some kind of lame ass wannabe street samurai, you can walk it off and crash on your couch until you're healed up. IF you are some kind of lame ass wannabe street samurai, you can keep in the hospital bed and pay. |

Really? Do you have a reference handy? I always assumed the listed costs were just the hardware, and any associated medical costs were rolled into "hospitalized lifestyle". The cost of the ware includes the surgery. It does not cover hospitalized lifestyle. Meaning, one can get 7 points of physical damage and decide walk from the hospital instead of recovering there to save money. All kinds of problems may apply to this... |

It'll also have strange names, like Böster! Aye, though some might say Riggers have it just as bad. Just be sure the right wrench is with the set. And it's not just Cyberware, they carry all sorts of Hi Tech. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

It's interesting but it doesn't solve the problem that led me to this question. Let's say I physically steal a piece of cyberware (unmounted) worth, say 200 000 nuyen (in the rulebook). If those 200 000 include installation (but without post operation medical care), how much should I value the piece alone?

I'd say around 65%-70% of the total cost is the product in itself, the rest is the cost for the operation.

I usually go with 10% of the price for installation cost.
Obviously this rule of thumb can't apply everywhere, but it neatly lets me sell cyberware at 30% of its base price. |
