Unlikely as Nebular has, IIRC, abandoned Chummer now. On top of that the site he had for downloading the program is inactive.
I've got a few thoughts, one of which is if you left Chummer with Automatic Updates enabled. If so, I believe disabling it may allow you to launch chummer, but you'll need to edit your computer's registry to disable it since you can't do this normally in Chummer itself. Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Chummer and change the value for "autoupdate" to "False" (obviously without the quotes). Outside of possible corrupt files, this is currently the most likely cause I can think of. |

Yay it happened after auto-update, talking about some "hexadecimal value 0x20" that is impossible to use as the first character of the title (line 33, possition 36) (sorry I am translating this from czech errror report so it may be a bit confusing) Ive reloaded oder version, and this happens after the update, turning it off in registers is possibly good idea, didnt know how to do that (and I dont want to disconnect my comp from net everytime I want to start chummer) OTOH: Does it mean also that Omae service is no longer available? |

I'm registered, but honestly have almost never used Omae. I did try just before posting and found I could not log in, so I'd have to say that Omae is very likely tied to the same site and is now no longer available.

Guess one needed just a little faith and some patience. Nebular's site is back again, so the original Chummer's auto-update attempts shouldn't cause crashes, and Omae is once again available.
For those who haven't done so by now, I'd advise disabling the Automatic Updates feature now, just in case. To make sure everyone knows where this is, it's Tools > Options > General tab > Global sub-tab > and the one check box with "Automatic Updates" next to it. Make sure it is not checked, and click <OK>. You can always manually check for updates through the Tools menu, though I honestly doubt there ever will be another one for the original Chummer. As for Chummer5, I hope we can all voice our hope for an official update to get the Sum-To-Ten and Karmagen (my personal favorite) options enabled. |

I found a single exploit inside the Cyberware Section:
Inside the Corebook (Page: 454 + Chart on 455) it says Bone lacing grants a Bonus to Body and Armor Plastic Body+1 Armor+1 Aluminium Body+2 Armor+2 Titanium Body+3 Armor+3 Inside Chummer it only grants the Armor while the enhancement of the Body Attribute lacks Besides of this one exploit i really must say i find chummer georgeous and really like to use it for my Charakters! Greetings Madamun |

In Career Mode, check the box to the right, the tab Condition Monitor. There you'll find that the Bone Lacing enhancements are being tabulated properly under "Dmg Resistance Pool", as "It gives you extra Body for resisting physical damage, a little Armor (cumulative with other Armor, without adding to Encumbrance), and changes your unarmed combat damage, all listed in the Bone Lacing table." (from SR5, page 454)

I'm running 0.0.5.139 and I've found a bug I think.
I was creating a decker/aspected mage and I had my priorities set as: Metatype: E Attributes: C Magic: D (Aspected Mage Sorcery) Skills: B Resources: A This left me with one special attribute point to spend. My magic rating is currently 2 at this point and edge is also 2. I went to the cyberware tab and added a datajack. This dropped my essence to 5.9. It did not drop my magic ability to 1 like I believe it should have. But it did drop my special attribute points available from 1 to 0. It's looking like it automatically using the special attribute to keep my magic score up. Is this a feature or a bug? |

Chummer 4 does the same thing and Nebular explained when others noticed it then. Chummer assumes the value you have in magic is what you want to keep it at and spends points to keep it there as you do things to lower it like adding cyberware. |

Just an f.y.i.
I think I've found a couple of math problems, at least the book doesn't match Chummers math. I don't know if these are already known or not so I figured I mention it just in case. First, "Free Knowledge Skill Points" are being calculated as (INT+LOG)x3 and the book says it should be (INT+LOG)x2 And second, "Free Contact Points" should be CHAx3 but its calculating at CHAx1 I've got Chummer Version 0.5.166.0 |

Cool! Latest update has fixed the knowledge and contact points calculations. Thanks! (Nice way to implement btw.)
New issue... the "Friends in High Places" positive quality doesn't modify the "Free Contacts Points" pool like it is suppose to. It should add CHAx4 points to the pool. |

Found what I think is a new bug...
If I have a skill that I have only put karma in. When I reopen the file it will add a skill point in that skill as well so it then has 1 skill point and 1 karma point. If I forget to then delete that new skill point and save and close the file. Once I reopen the file it will put another point in that same skill so it will then have 2 skill points and 1 karma point. Even if I remember to delete the added skill point it will continue to do this ever time I open the file. It does this with both regular skills and knowledge skills. |

OK, I just updated to 0.5.168.0 and now I can not make any characters. I get the following error whenever I press the new character button:
************** Exception Text ************** System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: The given key was not present in the dictionary. at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.get_Item(TKey key) at Chummer.LanguageManager.GetString(String strKey) at Chummer.frmSelectBP..ctor(Character objCharacter, Boolean blnUseCurrentValues) at Chummer.frmMain.ShowNewForm(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.RaiseEvent(Object key, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripButton.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEventInteractive(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEvent(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) Also if I load a previously made character most of the already distributed skill points show as unused. However if I look at the skills the skill total shows as if the points have been allocated but the points entry shows 0. |

First I'd like to thank for the renewed work on the Chummer CharGen.
I have been a supporter for the 4th Ed. and also like to add a few comments for the new release: I have installed the latest 5.169 release and noticed a few bugs: 1. several qualities (the new ones from Chrom Flesh) appear twice in the list when trying to select them, the entries seem to be identical 2. the quality Biocompatibility (Bioware) does not work, there are no new waregrades selectable once the character has the quality 3. When building a magical character with a starting value of magic higher than the final value (due to implants) during creation, the magic value "resets" to the starting value when you save and reopen the char Thanks for keeping up the good work best regards Hellfire |

I've already mentioned 1 & 2 at the Shadowrun Forums where the current supporter occasionally checks. 3 is an outstanding issue stemming back from the original Chummer; as a work around you can go into the menu to reduce an attribute and choose Magic to bring it back down to where it's supposed to be.

On my XP machine, 5.169 version works, but when I update (through updater or from downloading the zip file), I get a "this is not a valid windows program" error. On my Windows 7, 5.170 works fine. Anyone know of any reason this might be from .169 to .170?

Ok, I just finished updating my comp, to include the latest .net patch and that seems to have fixed my crashing problem. I can load 170.1 update just fine now. Thanks mrslamm0!
