Anyone tried The Hunter on Steam?, I can't get it to run Options

So I thought I'd try The Hunter, a free game on Steam. Somehow they made what should be a simple hunting game technically complex. I think it requires you to be online. In any case I was not able to play as I wasn't able to load any hunts. I wonder what the hell I was downloading when I downloaded the game in the first place and had Steam running overnight in order to download. I'm annoyed I had to create an account before they let me know if the game would actually work or not.

I had been thinking I could try out the cottontail rabbit hunts to see how realistic the game was since I've only hunted bunnies and quails in real life, but so much for that. Too bad, I was really looking forward to a realistic first person shooter.

Anyway, even though apparently I won't be able to play, I guess I'm curious if the game is really realistic or not. Has anyone successfully run it?
