ok so how does this play by post thing work?

I played with a group in college and are the characters I made and played for those sessions admissable? Yes they are all 3rd edition cannon

My current work scheduiel is 1 to 5 every day so I can post many times a day after 5. Is this a problem?

anything else I need to know?

EDIT: Ohh yea does anyone have a problem with custom spells at chagen?

Ok...

You pick a game that is open, you'll pick those out fast.

The GM decides what characters he will accept.

Post speed is determined by the group.

Games can last long, or short. Depends on the group, the GM, and the amount of interest it produces.

You need to find a game that is starting or {good luck} one that is accepting characters. Then you need to have your character approved. Each game has its own requirements. Thereare various definitions of 'canon' and some GMs use their own house rules. When you get in, post away. Too many games stagnate after the first couple of weeks.

It's up to the GM. Each game has its own requirements from 40 BP to 200 and (I think) 500 karma veterans, so your character may or may not be accepted as it presently is. You could re-create the character as it was at Chargen. Then you would have a better idea how it would behave in certain situations. I've seen some people playing versions of the same character in different games, even down to the same name.

Not in many cases. Some games require posting at times when everyone is online. Others just want players to post regularly, maybe even daily, so you shouldn't have a problem if you pick the right type game.

Yes. Read through some of the IC and OoC threads to get an idea of how to post. Search through the threads for new people asking about games, there will probably be more guidelines there.

If you have trouble finding a game to play, you might consider starting one yourself. I had to resort to this, partly because when a game is announced half a dozen people say they want in and it fills up.

If you start a game, "count me in." :)

Check your PM.

I dont think ill be GMing anything just yet although I might after i get the hang of this.

The character I was thinking of playing Is my Quadrapelegic albino infirm elven conjurer, Francis. I actually had a 3 page single space 12 font background story written for him but, alas my computer gimped and I had to reformat the hard-drive before i could back it up to disk :S. hes only like a 60 karma shadowrun vet. pretty interesting character I like playing him.

EDIT: is anyone planning on starting a run up anytime soon I need something to consume my time :silly:
