For the people who were unable to play it due to some hardware restrictions, the new patch is out, with additional quality of life fixes

My biggest gripe so far is that the game was made for people like me: It already starts with the into, I can name what each screen is supposed to be, but how are people with no knowledge of the universe supposed to make sense of it? And it goes right on with the actual game mechanics, BT fans know that a bigger AC does more damage with less range, bigger lasers do more damage with more range, and bigger missiles do more damage (which is spread across locations) with the same range. But other people? They can of course get the info from mouseovers, but that takes time and is not available anywhere. I've had to explain such basics to two people so far, whom I don't consider slow on the uptake.

TL;DR: It's a great game, but if you don't know what a PPC is and how good they are at short range, find some kind of howto (or ask here, the overlap between BT and SR fans is quite significant (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ).

The thing i hate most about the game is the stupid time passing shit . .
ESPECIALLY THAT IT PAUSES AND DOES NOT UNPAUSE AUTOMATICALLY!
It took me several minutes to figure out why the game was stuck <.<

And the numbers are stupid as well . . 60+ days for some shit.
And no way to actually accellerate that!
Make it go in weeks if it is more than 7 days god damn it -.-

Wait till you get the option to upgrade your ship, with an upgraded mech bay things get a lot faster

It's not supposed to be easy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

That being said, you can easily change variables in the .json files if you're fed up with it.

As long as you're in good enough shape to keep doing missions, it's pretty easy to avoid going broke. Just remember to sell off your mountains of medium lasers and heat sinks (and whatever other stuff you accumulate) from time to time.

Also, having a spare mechwarrior or two you rotate in sometimes is helpful. Depending on how you're doing, you can save money by not increasing their skills. I'm trying to get a single mechwarrior up to speed near the end of the game (I wanted someone with bulwark and the ability that lets you go one weight class earlier to go with my multiple evasive multishot mechwarriors), and it's a grind.

Also, having different skillsets for different mechwarriors is probably a good idea.

More importantly, sell off salvage mechs as soon as those random 1/3 Locusts have added up to a complete one. Don't use "scrap for C-Bills", put them into storage and then sell them in the store.

Yep. The only time I scrapped anything for salvage was because it cost more money to repair than I had (lost most of the parts after getting knocked down). If you can afford to repair a mech you want to get rid of (or that doesn't need repairs because that's how salvage works), push the down arrow symbol on the side to mothball it, then sell it.

Looks like you can actually make salvage require repairs with the newest patch. I'm just waiting for more mechs. An agile Vulcan jumping into woods is still pretty good. Better if you mod the game so the evasive pips don't go away.

Anyone else find any entertaining mods? This one is...entertaining.

Not sure if they are particularly entertaining, but here are the ones I use:
https://www.nexusmods.com/battletech/mods/206 Gives you a tabbed view for components in the mechlab. So clicking on energy weapons will show only energy weapons, instead of toggling whether to also show energy weapons
https://www.nexusmods.com/battletech/mods/209 Exactly what it says on the tin, a popup showing how much health enemy pilots have left whenever they take damage
https://www.nexusmods.com/battletech/mods/37 MW4 sounds for ACs and PPCs

Thank you, Sengir.

Also, I remember there being one called "JK Variants" (not at my home computer right now) that adds more variants of mechs, including the one useful Banshee available in 3025. No Warhammers or Vulcans or whatever, but you still get more variety.
