BBC did an article on the (ocean) pirates of the 21st century. Notice the hacking, extraction teams, and drone combat!

Seems the cargo ships are following suit too, with their own drones, etc. I find the fact their ship board servers are frequently very insecure interesting. Time to port that little problem over to our game.
