So the character I'm making is more or less a street sam. He works for a private military contractor and it is fairly common for him to do security work.

One of the things I'm wanting on him is multiple fly spies for recon, and real time intel fed back to my cyber eyes. I'm not really great with the matrix rules, but I want to have them on a secure network being coordinated by an Agent, with proper IC in the network. This will also be used to protect my wireless functions and any cyberware I have. It doesn't have to be hack proof just strong enough so that it buys me enough time to make a decision to weather or not I want to issue pre determined orders to the fly spies and shut down all wireless on my network. The drones are already taken care of, but in SR5 what do I need physically and software wise to make this happen. I have some where between 30-50k to work with.

well, since you want IC i think the first thing you need is a host.

so step 1, sell out to a corporation that wants you to have a fleet of drones as part of your job.

a more practical defense (not that that's saying much) would probably involve a heavily modified RCC with some sort of add-on that gives it a stealth rating. and probably also a cyberdeck, i don't think you can run an agent on an RCC *or* a commlink.

honestly, the thing you want is basically impossible in SR 5 without spending absurd amounts of money as far as i know. the best you can probably hope for without blowing most of your starting resources on defending your (at this point nonexistent since you can't afford them) cyberware and drones is to get a high system/firewall commlink and don't dump your mental attributes too badly.

or, have a decker in the group who for some odd reason has nothing better to do than spend a lot of time constantly checking your gear for dangerous unwanted marks.

Except in SR5, the "cost" is pretty fragging stupid. If they made Cyberdecks 1/3 the price they are in the book, then they MIGHT be worth something, but the price is so fragging high, it's stupid.

That's because you want to play a munchkin that could protect his cyberware from being hacked while being hacked is the cost for having cyber. I mean, aside from truckloads of money and half your essence, there should be a price, right? Right?

Besides, being hacked is FUN. If you don't understand that YOU ARE PLAYING THE GAME WRONG and are probably retarded.

because nothing is as fun as having your money locked up for any online transactions because hackers are f*****g with your online bank.

WOOO!!!

They can still go out and physical swipe their cards to buy stuff, but that means actually going outside and stuff.

BOO!

Just saying, IC being reduced to mere agents with a few offensive programs wasn't that great either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

What's wrong with that?

(SR4 rules)
While the stock agent is kinda bleh, you can upgrade them with things like "Home Ground", "Expert Defense", and "Adaptability" to make them more intelligent and better at defending your system.

(SR5 Rules)
Get an internal router so you can have some of the "online" benefits of your cyber while offline. Otherwise, unless you're a Decker, stick you head between your legs and kiss you ass goodbye.

Well, if IC is just an agent with combat progs, then any agent can load combat progs and the decker will be faced with an endless army of mooks...

Not really endless. Too many at once and it slows the system down. Unless the hacker is routinely hacking mil-spec nodes, this isn't usually a problem. If the system just keeps reloading the same agent then the hacker can just disable that function. Problem solved.
