Hi,
I haven't really played SR since SR4. I notice that a lot of the previous social bonuses have disappeared. So besides genetic optimzation, exceptional attribute and tailored pheromones are there any other accessories a good face should have? -Chrysalis |

That's actually pretty much the core essentials for a mundane face - maybe add the vocal range enhancer/expander for a bit of a boost to your social limit when talking. I don't have the new Matrix book, so I only hope they didn't bring empathy software back. There are qualities in both the core book and Run Faster - first impression, guts, fame, friends in high places, trustworthy, etc. There is also Metagenetic Improvement: Charisma and Glamour if you go the SURGE route. Run & Gun has armor that improves your social limit - especially if you have wireless enabled. I'm not kidding - they actually have social wireless bonuses for the right clothing.
Just like SR4, adepts have ludicrously more potential bonuses than their mundane counterparts - mentor spirit bonus, improved ability, authoritative tone, cool resolve, etc. Adepts were actually comparatively balanced in the core book, but with Street Grimoire, the pornomancer was back. |

Edge (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Seriously, odds are high that if you are a face, your social limit is quite high in the first place, so things that only add to your social limit don't help you so much. Adding a point or two to the limit is not horrible, but it is not really necessary. On the other hand, because there are typically less really key social rolls in a run than with combat, edge is comparatively more powerful, imo. If you have the money available, possibly invest in some secondary areas with your gear (improving your perception, initiative, disguise bonuses, etc). But I'd look if you can drop your resources a notch and bring up your meta-type a notch for more edge. |
