Even in the case of 6e core there was no reason to rush it. They didn't actually make the GenCon release anyway.

What are you talking about? They sold physical copies of the 6e book at GenCon 2019. That's what started a whole kerfuffle with the code for the digital PDF working for everyone (Not a 1-time use thing)
