Something kinda neat I just noticed: if you look for it in the page source, you can find a way to not only link to a specific page of a topic, but to a specific post on that page. For instance, http://invision.dumpshock.com/index.php?sh...=25#entry119074 links to a specific post I wrote. This could be very helpful for people who want to corss-reference stuff in specific posts in different threads, if it weren't such an enourmous hassle to do. I think it would be very cool to have a hyperlink or button next to each specific post that people can copy that generates this link for you, so you don't have to hassle with the page source every time you want to jump down to a specific post.

That would be absolutely marvellous. So far I've been doing it with the Search function, using Search by Post and using the generated Preview-links.

I'm trying to figure out the best place to present this, and where to put it. Free spae is kind of at a premium... :/

It doesn't below in the "Profile / Report .. " section, nor in the poster info section.

How about simply putting the ID number to the right of the Posted: line?

Works for me.

Two numbers are needed to make post-tagging ability work - the thread ID and the post ID.

Format is .../index.php?showtopic=4288#entry121990

Both can be grabbed by checking the 'quote' feature of the post you want to tag - and editing them into the above url template. Specifically t= and p= from the Quote URL.

Any progress on this one, or are we stuck doing it manually?

Just bumping this one again, in the hopes it might be addressed. I know you can always do it manually, but why should you have to when having the machine generate the link is so easy? :) Personally I like the idea of changing the word "Posted:" on the post line into a hyperlink pointing to the actual post.

QUOTE (Adam @ in thread Quoting, Dashes, and Thread Errors)
We'll be upgrading to the new version of the forum software within the next couple weeks, and after that, if the problem persists in the new version, it will be fixed.

Holy thread necromancy, Batman! :)

I saw Dvixen's post and went "Err, what?" :)

Yeah, as Adam said, the boards are getting an overhaul in a lot of ways shortly. We'll keep you guys updated as we finalize things.
