Awhile back I came across a website that had a alternate magic setup for points distribution. I think each point of magic rating had a point cost and you had to pay points for different abilites (summoning and casting).

And what ever happened to the Adapt Sourcebook project from about a year or two back?

The Adept Sourcebook is on hold, though some of the material will show up in SotA:64. You can find more information on Underworld in the Adept Sourcebook forum.
