SR3 says a weapon focus adds it's Force to the user's appropriate combat skill when wielded in combat. Does this mean that if my Adept bonds with a melee hardened handgun weapon focus, he gets this bonus when he shoots with it AND melee attack with it, or just when I melee attack with it?

There are no magical ranged weapons to date. Either you have anchored bullets but there is no magical weapon like the magic bow or something.
