My main thoughts on this...:
A) This has been a problem for a while. I dunno if it's a minor cult of sorts, or freakishly widespread. My dad says for me to get AIDS testing before I plan on having a child, and thus I likely will for safety's sake. Stupid-ass mother-fragging world. What's it coming to? :dead: B) They don't mind it? Well, I'll let them be the judge of that as they wither away horribly on a hospital bed. C) And this is happening in a country founded by Puritans? My, how we've changed... D) I forget what D was, but it was going to be in reply to lspahn's comment. Oh well. |

Problem is that in todays society, more intelligent people are having fewer kids so as to give them a better quality of life. Stupid people still breed like rabbits. They'll win eventually.
As far as psychological help for people like this? There are a stack of people out there who both WANT and are willing to ACCEPT help and can't afford it. Wasting it on people like this? I'd much rather see it go to Animal Care or another worthy cause. Just wish they'd get on with it and kill each other off faster. |

The Universal Brotherhood is going to be way bigger than this. I mean, HIV only kills you. Becoming a bug makes you stronger, faster, smarter and magical, not to mention actually being a meaningful part of an extremely powerful society.
These guys are just modern-day circumcellions, and it'd be better all around if they just slit their wrists and got it over with. |

I don't know if it matters, but this article ended up being descredited. It turns out the author only had one, very sketchy source. The doctors in the article claim to be outrageously misquoted, and no public health organization has found any real evidence of a "bug chaser" culture. Newsweek did a big expose on the whole thing, which can be found via a simple google search if you are interested.
