Is there anything in canon newer than Shadowbeat?

On a related note, where did the Performance skill in NSRCG come from?

Performance, from Shadowbeat isn't a 3rd Edition skill. It's been replaced by Knowledge Skills which pretty much represent all non-running aspects of a character's life be they hobby (such as Weightlifting and Sculpture), professional (Medicine and Chemistry), or just weird (Scouraging).

And beyond the Sprawl Survival Guide and State of the Art: 2063 there isn't much on entertainment in 3rd Edition. The media gets the shaft in Shadowrun. :)

Oh, it's also generally a good idea to wait more than an hour or so for a response.

Having noticed that there were 14 views and no replies, I thought I'd encourage browsers to let their thoughts be known. If this some how personally insulted you, I most humbly appologize :P

Anyway, to the point:
Does that mean that other things like tattooing (for tattoo magic) and various some what useful centering skills can also be taken as background skills, instead of active?

IMO if someone wanted to run a media campaign in SR3 I'd make the appropriate skills active rather than knowledge since they represent the primary way that the PC interacts with others.

If someone wants to make money or a message with a guitar according to the rules in SB the skill should be active. If it's something they do as a hobby then knowledge is fine...

Of course. Most Centering and related skillls (other than Centering itself) are Knowledge Skills (as opposed to Background Skills which are a subset of Knowledge Skills) to begin with unless they are clearly defined elsewhere, such as a Language Skill or using Projecitile Weapons for zen archery or something.

I don't recall Tattooing ever being labeled as an Active Skill.
