Welcome to the Recruitment Thread for the first major push in the Living in the Shadows campaign world. The following three runs will comprise sub-games 3, 4, and 5, and collectively fall under the heading of the It’s a Small World sub-campaign. Each is about the length of a module (a la convention style) and are designed to provide new players a convenient and easy entrance into the World IC thread of the Living in the Shadows campaign.
These runs will differ from the typical game here on Dumpshock in that all three of them function within a previously defined, fleshed out campaign world (the Living in the Shadows campaign). The main difference as far as the sub-games are concerned is that the three runs, while not connected, may affect each other. Some in obvious, direct ways, others in more subtle ways. Similarly, events that occur in the World IC may also have a bearing on one, all, or none of the runs. Additionally, because outside events can and may affect your runs, time does matter. Not necessarily because time in that particular run is a factor, but because as time passes, other things may happen to affect your run. Note that all three runs will be roughly synchronized to take this effect into account. Important: Players are requested to not read the threads, IC or OOC, of the runs they are not a part of. After all the runs are over, you may read them for your enjoyment. However, even then, I would STRONGLY prefer players did not. In the near future, a Shadowland-style thread will be up for players to discuss in-character the runs and happenings, just like in the Shadowrun world. Use this, or even hold a discussion with another character who participated in the run in the World IC. All these little touches will make the world seem much more lifelike to you, make the game come alive, and ultimately, contribute to a far superior gaming experience for all parties involved. Obviously I cannot monitor this, but I am relying on players’ sense of honor and desire to maintain the integrity of the games and the campaign to ensure that there will be no metagaming of this sort. OK, but enough warnings and disclaimers, on to the good stuff. First, the runs themselves. Sub-game 3: Salvation Concept: A team of runners heads to California Free State to free someone’s metahuman relative from General Saito’s metahuman concentration camps. In the process, they will attempt to not only rescue the target, but to destroy the camp, preventing it from being used this way in the future, and get out as many people as possible and back to Seattle. Think you’re up to the task chummers? Player Qualifications: Up to 7-8 players will be accepted. It is highly recommended the team consist of a mix of talent. It is a guarantee the team will need a rigger, probably several magicians, definitely combat types. A decker will more than likely be very helpful as well. It is also recommended that the PCs be of an altruistic bent. Sub-game 4: Unfriendly Terrain Concept: There have been some strange and unexplained phenomena coming from an area of the Barrens. This stands in the way of a corporate development project, and needless to say, that can’t be allowed to happen. Go in there and take care of whoever, or whatever, is causing this phenomena, and enable the corporate project to get back online. One way or another. Player Qualifications: 5-6 players accepted. Magical characters are a necessity. Oh, and be able to survive a fight without getting your head taken off. That is, if you like living. Sub-game 5: Crusade Concept: A concerned shaman is worried about what will happen when a corp moves in on their home, and hires a team to take out the director in charge to stop the project. And when they says take out, he means permanently. Player Qualifications: 4-5 players accepted. Characters should be prepared for wetwork, and will probably need a solid mix of skills and abilities, depending on the approach they choose to take. The following dates are important. I (WinterRat1) will be accepting character submissions for sub-games 3 and 4, Salvation and Unfriendly Territory starting now and until Friday, August 6. You may PM me or email me at alexwong945@yahoo.com. Tisoz will be accepting character submissions for sub-game 5, Crusade, from Saturday, August 7 through Sunday, August 15. Sub-games 3 and 4 will be opened on Tuesday, August 17. Sub-game 5 will be opened on Tuesday, August 24. I will still be running all the sub-games, but I will be out of town and not even remotely close to a computer for about a week, hence the reason Tisoz will be handling submissions for me while I am away. The reason for the week gap between games 3 and 4, and 5 is to give me time to process the characters he sends back to me, and to reflect the timing of the various runs, as mentioned earlier. Note that the players allowed are just the maximums and/or the suggested amount. If I don't have enough characters to play that run, depending on how short we are, I will either discontinue the run or just run it short, also subject to the opinions of the players. Please see the following thread for information about the Living in the Shadows campaign world, character creation rules, guidelines, and so forth. Living in the Shadows: Guidelines The important things to read are the Character Creation Summary, and to skim through the first post, and the Character Interaction Guidelines. A brief glance at the posting guidelines should suffice. Note that all characters approved for the sub-games are automatically approved for entrance into the World IC. Please feel free to post any questions here on this thread. I'm looking forward to playing with you all. I know it's an ambitious project, but hopefully we'll all be able to make this work, and a game to remember! :) |

Do we need to post character concepts here? What if we want something that's controversial, such as custom gear or cultured bioware?

Well, anyway. I'll go ahead and lay out my character concepts.
Phyrexus Eliff, 14 year old Human Freelancer. Works as a decker, street sam, or covert ops. guy. Tyrrannus Eliff, 18 year old "Troll" (Not really, but for all intents and purposes, he is. Detailed information in Biography) Street Samurai. Useful for back-up muscle as needed. Miranda Eliff, 16 year old Elf Street Mage. Offensive/defensive mix in spells for added combat efficiency. I'll get the Biographies in as ASAP along with their sheets. I'll need the 20 Questions from the SRComp, though, as I don't have the book. |

All those things are covered in guidelines. To answer your specific questions, cultured bioware (except bioware that is cultured only, e.g. cerebral booster) is not allowed starting the game, and custom gear is handled on a case to case basis. Weapon mods generally are allowed, totally custom weapons not. Stuff from web material (like Raygun's guns) are not allowed.
You may post your character concepts here, and just send me the submissions via PM or email |

It is still possible to sign up. In case it wasn't clear, this thread is not exclusively intended for those already in the Living in the Shadows campaign world. It is intended to give people an opportunity to jump into the LITS campaign.
Of course players who are already in LITS will be participating, but this thread is to provide all those who expressed interest earlier but haven't quite joined yet with both an opportunity to enter and hit the ground running, and have actual deadlines to inspire them. ;) Also, for the time being, I have decided to remove sub-game 6 to better reflect the timeline. All other things still hold true. You may post character submissions here, or just get directly in contact with me. |

Im dying to get Morphine back into play. She's a youngish shaman/chemist with a rather brutal ability to cause much death, despite her petite appearance. She was an active character in my table game until my job forced me out of the game :(
I'll convert her sometime within the next week from paper to electronic to get her to you. |

I'd like to try and work Lady Cheng into this world so, following the list o' suggestions laid out in the Guidelines thread, here's the basics.
Lady Cheng is 20 years old, a decker and rigger, and an ork (though with the Human-Looking and Good Looking and Knows It edges). Her primary skills, at least so far, are in vehicle use/combat and computers, with the only real concessions to face-to-face combat being Aikido: 2 and Pistols: 2. :) More detailed info will follow in the submission if this idea is accepted. Anyways, I'd be interested in putting her into the "Salvation" sub-game. I'll forward an electronic copy to you shortly via PM. |

Kurukami and Blitz- Both ideas sound fine to me, just send me your stuff.
Blitz and Phyrexus- Which runs were you two interested in? |

Nick Nihil will be on his way soon, interested in all three games, Character will most likely agree to Salvation before Crusade before Unfamiliar Territory

I don't really care which run you put me on, really. If I had to choose, though, I'd say 3 and 5.

Nicholas Borgia (a.k.a. Virgil) is interested in the 'Unfriendly terrain' game.
Virgil is a 26 year old Wise Warrior who specilizes in tracking and neutralizing magical threats. He also pursues the design of magic intended to cleanse the areas that have been scorched by such twisted abuses of mana. He is a magic-user in the purest sense as he has skills in all aspects of collecting foci materials and construction, enchanting, and spell design. |

Actually, I think I'll drop them in your email inbox -- there's two fairly long .docs (written-out background and the 20 questions), game stats, and at least one character picture. :D

Cheng might be up for sub-game 5, depending upon just what abuses the director has committed, but probably wouldn't fit in sub-game 4. Her face-to-face combat skills are limited to fairly low Pistols and Aikido.

I' ve got a troll phisical adept that would prefer game 4. Good hand to hand combat skills and a big axe.has done one small run before so lacks equipment but is willing.
will email charecter sheet. Jacob has dropped out of life for a while and has been living on the street until recently But is trying to get his life back into some kind of order .That takes money though so here he is willing and able to do anything to keep him going back on the streets. |

I've lurked at these boards for months now, and would love to get into some sort of a game, seeing as the local scene has nearly completely dried up. I'm really tired now, but if I were to muck through my old characters tomorrow and find something worth playing, might there still be a spot somewhere for me? Sorry, just kind of new here and don't quite know how things work. :)

I'm pretty sure that the recruitment for the first two sub-games goes through Friday (Aug. 5), while for the third sub-game it goes through this Saturday (Aug 6). Submit away. :)
Hey WinterRat, speaking of such, should I submit Cheng separately to Tisoz as I did to you via email? She'd be interested in both subgame 3 and subgame 5... |

You probably should post what sub-game your character is most interested in playing. This post hasn't been swamped with requests, but it's a good habit to get into in order to ensure that you have a space to play.

Klaus is interested in any work that comes his way. Number 3 and 4 both appear right up his alley.
As Klaus is already in your world, I'll just answer whatever calls I get from my fixer (put me where ever a Troll shaman investigator would help out the most). |

WinterRat, have you had the opportunity to look over Cheng's stats? Are ther any changes you'd like me to make? I ask only because I haven't seen a reply by email or PM yet...

Tomorrow- Apologies for no specific response. Yes there is still time to sign up. Love to have you join us.
Everyone- I will be heading out of town from Mon, Aug 9-Sat, Aug 14. Everyone currently approved for LITS is in. All requests for runs are duly noted. Since it seems like there may not be enough to run all 3 at once, I may go with two or maybe even one. Your characters will be contacted in the World IC at the start date, or maybe a few days before. If you have any questions or wish to confirm a spot, drop me a line, but keep my OOT dates in mind when waiting for a response. For everyone who has not submitted a character yet, feel free to submit one to Tisoz for approval and speedier approval while I'm away. Looking forward to seeing you all in the game! :) |
