You are cordially invited… to a London Based Game
Since before the release of SoE (which I still don’t own… grr…) I have been planning to run a game based in London. It’s all well and good playing in Seattle (or wherever) but as a Brit, I want to play in my own back yard. That being the case, it is time for recruitment. Here are the requirements: 1: No Deckers (we’ll have an NPC fulfilling that role if necessary) 2: Gear Availability cap of 6. All Weaponry, combat cyberware and magical goods has an availability increase of 2 from the SR standard to reflect harsh British import law. Concessions may be made by special arrangement only. 3: Characters to be either Priority or 125 point based, your choice. 4: Special Flaw available for Magic Using characters: Registered (5 point flaw). The magic user is registered with the Lord Protector’s office, with a DNA sample on file. Obviously, the flaw requires that the character have a SIN, which is included in the cost of the flaw. If you take it, though, I probably will make harsh use of it! 5: We have the following characters already: Face, Samurai (of the “Diet” variety), Shaman (possibly, if Callidus re-appears) and a Physad (pending some character adjustments). 6: I am looking for only one or two more players. I would like, ideally, some background as to who the characters are and their histories – what brings them to London, what their references are (hehe) you know – the normal kanike. If you come up with a cool idea, PM me and I’ll give you an email addy for a full character sheet. The game should be starting on or around the 23rd of August, so assume a deadline around the 21st. Cheers, Drain Brain… |

I've got a troll muscle/samurai (who I'm still coming up with a good street name for, blast it :D -- though I might just steal a line from George Alec Effinger and call him "The Stone that Speaks", or "Stone" for short) who'd be interested in the run. I'll have to modify his gear and implant listings a bit to get around the lowered availability cap, but that'll be easy.
(ETA) Quick question, though. The group that I usually play with has the "Magic Resistance" edge played as though it provided levels of shielding -- that is, providing the additional die per level for resistance tests, but also raising the casting magician's TN by 1 per level. Would that house rule be allowed, or should I shift some of the Edge points he's currently got in Magic Resistance to something more useful? Basically, the background on him is that he's Korean by ethnicity, and the child of one of the Seattle families purged in 2043 by the Yakuza oyabun Watada-sama's decree. His mother's brother fled with him (in this case, to London) when he was barely 3 years old, and he grew up within the environs of the expanding Seoulpa Rings. He ran errands for his uncle's Ring throughout his childhood, and after goblinizing during puberty became an enforcer/muscle. |

I'm assuming this is a PbP game?
If so I have an experienced character I wouldn't mind playing as a "prequel" type character. He's a human druid (using the rules for wujen) by the street name of Belfast. He's a member of the Knights of the Red Branch currently on the lam after being set up for a botched assassination attempt in Ireland. I can alter his background somewhat to place him in hiding in London for a while as he waits for arrangements to be made to have him transported to Boston. He's pretty much a Celtic wujen from the Druidic hermetic school focused on conjuring and dealing with the fey folk (of which his spirits manifest). He's very suburban, however, and you'd be hard-pressed to tell him from any other person on the street unless you were to assense him or the like. I wasn't sure if you wanted this here or in a PM (your second to last paragraph suggested the latter), so I'll send a copy of this post via PM as well. Lemme know what you think. |

I have an idea for a drone rigger. He is an ex-cop who used to work for Scotland Yard. He is from Scotland and is currently living in London and working as a PD. He is a vehicle rigger with a couple of drones.

Yes, a PBP game...
I'm embarrased to say that this is the first game I have ever GM'd in such a fashion - I've been playing on this board for the last six months or so to get a feel for the style (thankyou, Silverspur!) and I now feel confident that I am ready for the challenge! |

I must firstly apologize for some of the questions I am going to ask. As I am new to the Forums here at Dumpshock.
What is PBP? What are the requirements to play? I see that there are 3 posting topics with other games. Firstly the recruitment. What is the procedure to be recruited? secondly IC(In Character discussions) and OOC(Out of character discussions) How would IC and OOC work ? Sorry if I caused any inconvenience |

I would also be interested. Im thinking of a street rat thief with disgusting athletics and rather gifted with a pistol. I know Im a bit behind the curve, so let me know if Im waitlisted. I'll still generate the character just in case.

PBP means "Play By Post."
As with the other games you'll see here, it means playing via posts to the forums. As you say, Blitz, go ahead and make up the character IYW, but I'll let you know... I'm waiting on a few already who beat you to the punch, as it were! |

Question...is the max availabilty 6 stackable with the +2 modifier? (thus effectively making the max availability rating 4?)

Just about done with the 'fridge and his three taxi drone network... just need to get a bit more gear, and design his last vehicle (sure, he drives Taxi, but he has illusions of one day being a Ralley driver).

BACK!
Sorry about that - wanted to get the dastardly holiday (with the missus) out of the way before doing important things like "playing on the internet..." Prioritize! Anyway, you guessed it right Blitz - I'm trying to make it as difficult as possible here! |

Guys, I'd quite like to start soon! I'm still waiting on some stuff, though...
I have sheets for: Piper Sandy Stone Deuce Harlot But I'm missing one from Digital Heroin. Also, if anyone has seen a post by or heard from Callidus, then I'd like to find out if he still wants to take part - otherwise we're down a Magic User... and you don't want that, do you? |
