Why isn't the Shadowrun Wiki being developed more? Is it a case of people not knowing it exists or copyright violations? If used properly it could be the best source of Shadowrun world information out there, subject of course to copyright laws.

Oh I see, it's pretty much brand new. That's probably why.

As far as I know, the idea have been discussed on ShadowRN mailing list and nobody bothered to talk about it on the DSF. Plus, it's hard to navigate it, a bit slow, and even worse to edit. Fifteen minutes I'm trying to put something in the Biggest Fortunes article and I still don't know what's going to show up in the end. The idea is indeed great, but maybe a bit ambitious. Oh, and the font is not very pretty.

The font seemed fine with me. I was about to say that it wasn't slow when I was playing around with it this morning, but now it is. So I don't know what's up there.

Throw the bug report on your user:talk page, then. I'll add a bugs page when I have some spare time. And yes, it's kind of wonky with all the oddness that has been happening on Cortana, lately. It is, however, as easy to edit articles on it as it is on any other Wiki - the software isn't /that/ difficult to learn... |

I'd considered starting something like this about a month ago. Probably better that someone who actually knows what they're doing be in charge of it, though :)

My only bug report is that my logged in status seems to vanish if I go to Main Page (but stays in effect if I visit any other page). I'll post that on user:talk though.

I just noticed that the wiki page seems down.
[edit] As an update since learning how to use a Wiki has been something I've been meaning to get around to, I think I'm going to write up a little "Tutorial" in the style that Wikipedia and what not have on them, so that the Sixth World Wiki users can have something to address this aspect right there. As soon as I see the Wiki back up I'll start trying to work on it. |

A site designed to be freely editable by all. Typically this just applies to content on a web page and with certain restrictions; few are mad enough to suffer the consequences of true freedom.

I haven't been happy with Wiki since the long-ago day when some guy randomly pulled an entire page off my site and posted it there without telling me. But in the end he completely changed it to fit some weird Atlantis game he was playing, so it was cool.

Because it's still very much in it's formative stages, and because I need to get around to revamping the front DS page like I've been intending to do. :)

I just got done adding that tutorial stuff I mentioned. I have to say, diving in and adding something to a wiki is the best way to learn.

How's the policy on taking stuff from the archive and putting it in the wiki?
It seems to me like a great way to blow some life into it :) |

Do you own the rights to redistribute the text? Is it relevant to the wiki? If yes to both, then go for it. |

What would be great would be that a lot of person talking in this forum make a statement like : "I agree to let all my past contributions on forums.dumpshock.com be published in the wiki located at wiki.dumpshock.com. I understand that it will published under the GNU Free Documentation License. I have read this license and accepted its terms." Well, I never put anything of interest here, but anyway... I agree to let all my past contributions on forums.dumpshock.com be published in the wiki located at wiki.dumpshock.com. I understand that it will published under the GNU Free Documentation License. I have read this license and accepted its terms. Come on everybody! |

Well you should say it only if you would like to contribute to the wiki but don't want to dig into all your old posts and let others handle this. But anyway, yes, you should carefully read the license text that can be found here : http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html (the link on the wiki itself seems broken) I am not a lawyer but it looks ok for me. |
