Oh no, I know the value of a rigger jumped into a drone. It really depends on the drone though. If one controled a horde of Dobermans 9tm) it's more risky then jumping into one of a horde of Ares Citymasters

Well, I guess the important stat is Handling. I agree that if Handling is over 4 there's some risk involved, so it potentially could be a problem, but if anything can waste all 9 of a Reaction 3 rigger's control pool on a Handling 4 or lower vehicle (keeping in mind that attacking can use combat pool), that's scary enough that the rigger's going to be out of the fight soon anyway.

Assuming the high handling vehicle is robust, perhaps not. Runners with small arms are not a significant threat to a tank, or Areas Citymaster. I'm not saying riggers should be cowardly, but as long as coordinating your drones looks like it's working very well, why risk jumping into a drone?

Because suddenly you get to roll your skill (probably 6 dice) plus pool (whatever you want, up to another six dice or more) as compared to usually one to three dice and at absolute most fifteen dice (maxed robotic pilot, maxed autosoft interpreter and autosoft, and a task within the robotic prime directive) which would cost several hundred thousand nuyen.
Oh, and you get to dodge. ~J |
