Hi all, long time lurker, first-time poster. Curious as to how many people are actually running or playing in a Shadowrun game at the moment. I've been into SR for a while now but haven't managed to play or run yet. My friends are all SR fans from way back, but they haven't really kept up with SR3.

Anyway, let the posting begin.

I'm playing in three (though one seems inactive) and running three (though one is very intermittent).

I am playing in one group. We currently have 5 players and a GM. While the members have changed over time, this group has been going for several years. On a side note, I have played with as few as 1 player and as many as 16. I will never forget saying if your astrally projecting go to the bedroom, if your invisible, go to the kitchen, and kicking our lone decker outside....Ah old school gaming at its finest.

I'm playing in two games (both IRL). I've been in one for three or four years and the other since this time last year.

Not currently engaged actively in SR, since the last game (P&P) ended a bit over a month ago -- had been GMing semi-weekly for 1½-2 years before that. The current game is medieval fantasy in a Forgotten Realms-ish world with mostly-SR rules.

Last time we played shadowrun, it went wrong. So badly wrong that we are now at 9 months and counting because of the trauma. Simple sneak and grab turned into major fire-fight thanks to three things; first we had the mage who opens up with a Predator because he forgets that he is a mage, second we have the mage who has a panic attack and immolates the entire staff on the ground floor of the building which sets off the fire-alarms, last we have the Samurai NPC that was tagging along using grenades on a stealth mission.

So... We stick to AD&D 2 ed.

We have... 6 games in progress, all 2 ed. AD&D, each one with a different selection of characters in (people don't always turn up)

1*Engel (German RPG about angels) as a GM
1*Earthdawn as a player

And finally this weekend after a long absence, Shadowrun as a GM with a group of 3-6 players. I need to run SR more often, much more often.

Ok, now I'm thinking if it wasn't going to cost me a fortune to gas up my car and drive to Seattle from Victoria every couple of months, it'd be worth it to play again...

At the momment I';m sitting at home before going off to work.

My regular group, which is a hold over form my HS AD&D days still games on sundays, only now we have our own houses and some have rug rats arounds the table.

They are still in New York and three of us live in PA and drive up there maybe 3 times a month to play. Currently we're wrapping up a game of VtM before going back to another GM who does SR. (We rotate GM's so no one burns out and we can work on really good runs instead of just churning out what we can each week.)

2 D&D 3ed games: one pretty new, the other going for 2+ years.
Currently starting a SR group. Woo hoo!!

All are in-person, 1/week games. None of that play-by-post business.

6 2ed? Yikes. One is too many IMO. I abhor 2ed.

I'm running 2 SR games, playing in 3, plus I'm running 1 CP game. All on RPOL and PBW (websites). When my parents come up to visit, I grab all my stuff and run P&P games with my brother.

1 D&D game as a player and 1 Shadowrun game as the GM.

Both are run in chat rooms.

Other than that, there are countless freeform storylines going at any time, but most of my time is spent LARPing in Amtgard.

I don't know if it's just me but I don't count play-by-post or other online games as true "groups". Playing in person is just so much different. Part of gaming is the interaction with actual people. Reading emails and message boards is just not the same.

The most popular time is when I was working in a game shop for 1 year I was

GM 8 Games a month and playing in 2 Games\

Playing Warhammer Every Wednesday night and Sunday afternoon.

That was a hectic schedule. But i lived for that and was payed to do it by the games shop.

Yea thats was the life.

Now I am IT Sales and Administration Assistant for a computer imports company.

If you don’t count play-by-post, I’m only in five. If you only count in-person it’s down to one. PbP is debatable, but I’d argue if you claimed that PbIM or soforth didn’t count.

Anything that's not in-person I don't count. That's just my personal feeling. I don't like playing online in any form. I just don't enjoy it as much. Gaming is about meeting new people, joking around, trash talking, eating junk food, and cheering with your friends when you do something cool.
