Happy Monday (:() Dumpshock. In preperation for my games this weekend, I was looking for the date that Gen. Saito decided to raise a finger to the Empire of Japan and continue to hang out in the San Fran bay area. I think it was sometime in the Fall of 2061 IIRC but my Threats 2 book is on loan. Thanks all!

It still comes up as dumpshok when I click on your link, despite the spelling in your post. Odd

For those who might be interested other than me:

QUOTE
In November, in San Francisco, CFS, Colonel Keiji Saito of the Japanese Imperial Marines, who is leading the rear guard of the withdrawing Japanese forces, declares that he refuses to obey the Diet's withdrawl order. With the aid of loyal troops and Japanese megacorporations, Col. Saito stages a coup in San Francisco. Rumors state that some troops try to arrest him but are gunned down. It is also rumored that he allowed those of his troops that did not wish to join him to withdraw back to Japan, but the first ship of these troops to leave San Francisco sinks with all hands aboard lost. After that, no one else takes the Colonel up on his offer. The Colonel appoints himself Protectorate General and with his two divisions of Imperial Marines, establishes control over the city. Imperial Governor Shiro Kawanaga vanishes from sight. Upon his consolidation of the city, General Saito declares that he will hold San Francisco as a Protectorate of Japan until such time as the Emperor realizes his mistake and that he will protect it from "criminal metahuman mobs" whose "wickedness is a perversion of all that the Japanese Empire stands for, an insult to the Yamato Spirit that binds us together." His forces quickly move into the Central Valley area, taking the city of Sacramento, McClellan Air Force Base, Beale Air Force Base in Marysville, and Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, naming the entire area the California Protectorate. Ares Macrotechnology troops led by General Torres and Lieutenant Colonel L. Ritter halt the general's advance before he can take Silicon Valley. He also leaves the dwarven community of Halferville alone when they threaten to destroy the Caldecott tunnel at the fist sign of invasion. The General places most of the Sacramento government under house arrest and starts placing the city's metahumans in internment camps outside the city. (Year of the Comet)

And the information was in YotC which I have, too. Oh well. Thanks for the updated link. I was looking at the one on the shadowrun archive that I googled for and that one only went to 2057. Guess that means we get to SURGE before we deal with Saito :vegm:

SURGE might even have help Saito's cause a great deal. With people still frightened about becoming 'infected' with SURGE, someone rounding up changlings and a few criminal metahumans would be seen as a good thing.

How's the saying go...

When they came for the changlings, I didn't say anything...
When they came for the metas, and commies, and injuns, it didn't concern me...
And when they came for me, no one was left to stop them.

Or something like that.
