Since almost anything can be DNI-adapted (not that you would need to go to that extreme here), there should be no reason for any gun-mounted accessories not to be controllable via Smartlink.
As for manufacturers assuming that any gunbunny with a SL also would have cybereyes, I think that's just plain wrong. There are a horde of metas out there who are quite happy with their already-better-than-breeder eyes. Not to mention military and security assets, where an implanted SL would be much more likely than augmented sensory cyber. Manufacturers don't build for the shadows ... they just take them into account on occasion in their marketing. |

My point is on the subject of whether or not a Smartlink includes the capability to turn on/off a gun-mounted flashlight. My position is that of 'Duh! Why wouldn't it?' :) My other point was to the earlier statement (in the gun write-up) that manufacturers would assume that anyone who uses a Smartlink (implanted or not) would automatically have cybereyes, and therefore would not need to be catered for in any other way. I was pointing to the flaw in that logic, and the larger-than-implanted-Smartlink-alone market for those Corps. :) |

I actually view it like anything is today.
SL would be a standard concept of an item. Many variations of it would exist depending on what you need and prices would subtley alter depending on what version, that has "x" stuff on it, you get. Of course, you can custom order them, but like anything, that costs a little more, but most people don't need them customed and can find what they need already produced. The lowest stripped down version would be the goggle version that only does targeting and that's it. The highest version would be something akin to a cyber-implant that networks with cyber-radio comm controls, flashlights, laser sights, magazine ejection, fire mode switching, targeting, link-ups with internal heads-up displays, GPS locators based on all allies using a radio comm unit that has been communicated with or manually entered into your system and is on, track rounds left in weapon, answer e-mail, play video games, order pizza, start your car, and open your garage door. I'm almost done with the first Case.
It needs to be edited and that's about it. I have to admit. I aimed to do this comically...but something just happened when I started writing it in novel form. I ended up with about 15 pages in MS Word and it has funny moments, but it has sad ones, and action packed ones too... It's turned into a short story off of a little submission. I think i might have failed at the original goal of doing CLUE file style stuff and instead succeeded at converting peoples submissions into extremely flavored novel versions of their outlined run. I'll tell you what though. I fricken love this story. Maybe because it's my first...but it was great writing it. |

Well, not in the traditional hollywood sense, rumor has it no movie other than the Passion or BLair Witch has made money on paper (this from an actor friend of mine) of course, if you believe that then hollywood would have shriveled up years ago.
I imagine it made some since there are rumors of a sequal (supposedly written by people that actually play the game) |

Ok everyone.
I'm gonna be in minor surgery tomarrow and I don't know how long they're going to keep me, so the story that I almost finished might have to wait a few days until I get out. Sorry about that. :( I think I'm going to have a "Stories" section and a "SLEUTH cases" section. People keep submitting these "Cases" to me that they claim are real funny and I read them and find them to be just plain damn good story material. Don't get me wrong. There's a couple good laughs among the submissions that are going to make it to the Case Files for sure. *aiming at missles...that was priceless.* |

Well that EX marine would have some problems being that I'm Active Army on an instilation in Korea. :grinbig: Oh...and that hacker would have a hell of a time with the wiring jobs and tech systems used over here in Korea.
