And you have to take into account that if one secessionist head gets on the trid with his/her declaration of independence all sorts of pschotic alarm bells would probably go off in D.C. Like: We already lost the better part of the Stats to thos damn Injuns. Now another bunch of ungrateful swin want to repeat that? How will we look in the news if we let this happen. Where's Colonel Kilgore and his beach boys? Send them in and don't forget the speakers for the Valkyries' Ride!
I fear that would be the end of SR base camp. Pleas relocate immediatly to - well, what would be the next best lawless place? |

Succeeding from the UCAS would be a bad idea. Succeeding from the Seatle Metroplex on the other hand.... Its doable, and it wouldn't erupt in violence if done correctly.
Get the heavily armed nuts together and the barricades, but first quitely elect a mayor and city council and announce to the world that you are splitting away from Seatle and file suits in UCAS court to restrain Lone Star and the Metroplex guard from action against your people and file seperate suits to recognize Redmon's independance in both UCAS and Seatle courts while lobying the Seatle legistature to support the succession. In the end, it would be politically damaging to employ military force, even more so if the successionists put up a fight. Plus, the Barrens are a drain on the Metroplex economy. It would be more reasonable for Seattle to go along with it and the UCAS wouldn't have any right to complain. |

Err, I was just pointing out that they already had mayors. There's no need to "quietly" elect one into existance; they already exist.

I seem to recall that Seattle has a special and specific charter. If a part of Seattle became independant, I think the NAN nations (or at least the SSC) would press their rights to the area. Not saying this would be successful, but it may very well spark off what could be a nasty international incident.

I can just about see a run coming up there. The Group is hired to assassinate the new evil-overlord-type mayor of all Redmond so that no political headache happens to the neighbors close and distant. And naturally, every outside fraction hires their own shadowrunners or sends in their spec froces team for the same job. Non-violent secession? Can anyone spell Bada-boom? :D
