Just a few quick questions. Is there any hint in any shadowrun books that the Outcast or his Immortal Dragon humans might have survived the down cycle? Or if he died before then does anyone know the book?

There has been no overt hint of the Denairastas clan or Denairastas himself, as far as I am aware. Certainly he and some of his descendants may still be extant, as neither they or he have yet been described as destroyed.

Just who is behind the Human Nation? Who were those wacky downcycle Hunters? Whom has Sirrug been chomping on?
Unfortunately, I have only questions... |

Hhmm, I wonder which dragon it was that busted out of an underground Draco-prison a while back in Poland with the help of a powerful magician friend on the outside... :)

I asked and was told Calozerca didn't match Outcast in size or color. |

Well, the Outcast would have been larger, and I believe his scales are golden. No, Lofwyr is not the Outcast.

Out of interest are there any other possible ancient things kicking around ignoring Dragons, Elves and Horrors?

Yes. But we'll ignore Totems, Insect Spirits, and the Corrupted Spider for now. Might as well put free spirits and ally spirits to the side. The most important, ancient things still kicking is lore, myth, and the lure of power. A little vague there, I know, but then consider the situation in Egypt where the appearance of god like beings might be some manifestation of ancient things. There are caverns in the Outback filled with spirit prisons, and when on considers the genie in the bottle legends and the 2060 Jinn the connections come quickly. |

Well I was more after gritty real mortal (well killable) types.
But on your point I wounder why the media and scientists arent try to dig up anything they can on previous ages like the forth world as all the stories, lore and fairy tales are to blatent pointing to past awakenings. |

You're asking for something that has survived the last 5000 years that is killable? I'd point to those trapped spirits, really. After all, not all of them need be guilty and to be imprisoned for 5,000 years for a crime you didn't commit is pretty gritty. Or even for crimes you did commit. But here's a possibility, what if one such spirit used the hidden life power on a mortal just before it was imprisoned? You'd have an immortal human with drastically reduced powers, IMO, which would make only his knowledge and immunity to normal weapons (pathogens and age) as a barrier to death. That also brings up ghosts and spectors chained to the physical plane.
They are. Quite a few sourcebooks mention the Alantean Foundation, which does exactly that and has been known to steal works from university digs (meaning scientists and the like). Not to mention all the old artifacts being poured over by the DIMR and museums the globe over. |

I guess I'm not the only one who thought about the Holders of Trust when I heard about the Black Lodge. But then, I've only known what the Black Lodge was for a week... |

Ah, interesting. I knew about Invae from ED, but had never heard anything about the Spider Totem. I take it that's covered in one of the SR books?
Edit: Vvvt. It's in MitS! and Grimoir. Okay, and where is its release covered? This post has been edited by Zeel De Mort: Nov 11 2004, 11:27 PM |

Actually, a case can (and should) be made that Spider of the second GGD fame is not the same entity as Spider the Totem. The former is more like a Free Spirit of immence power.

There are some who believe that totems are free spirits of immense power. A look at insect spirits supports that belief.

There are also some who believe that they're just psychotic delusions of primitive barbarians too irational to accept the science of magic. The fact that they can work magic just as well, if not better, without having to wear feathers in their hair or shake rattles as they dance seems to support that belief, too. :D

I am neither endorsing nor condemning that theory. I am merely pointing out the very real possibility of a distinction between two entities that share the title of Spider. |
