I can finally post again, but ever since the 2009 glitch, new topics and posts aren't being flagged for me.

apparently the fix was a simple as logging out and logging back on, so it wasn't saying my last visit was in 2009...

Or closing your browser. That would reset the "last visited" setting.

Oh well...at least it's fixed...even if I only thought of how to do it after I posted here.

Ever since the 2009 debacle, everything is marked as unread for me no matter what I do, and it only goes away if I manually mark things as unread.

I don't use any of the special features of the board (I'm old school -- I like doing things the manual way), but simply purging my cookies (as opposed to pressing the Delete All Cookies link) after logging off, then logging on after restarting my browser worked fine for me. New topics are being reported correctly, time stamps are fine, and now that flooding is turned off I can even search and post (obviously) without any problems.
I got a feeling they might have to reinstall the software, switch to new software, or something along those lines soon, though. The whole -temp debacle, followed by apparently losing their Administration interface, followed by the mess the time bug created doesn't bode well. Luckily I love change, so I'm kinda looking forward to it... but I doubt they are. :) |

I still get the search Flood Control message whenever I click on 'View New Posts', but it seems every other function I've tried works.

Have you tried manually purging all of the Dumpshock cookies? The little link thing on the site is all but worthless for that. In Mozilla/Firefox/Netscape (assuming all three use the same basic interface), you can do it by clicking on TOOLS > COOKIE MANAGER > MANAGE STORED COOKIES > and then deleting all the ones labeled Dumpshock. You need to be logged off to guarantee it works properly, and reloading the browser (or rebooting if you're not sure how to completely get out of it -- just clicking the X doesn't always work) before logging back on doesn't hurt.

Yeah, I did all that. Deleted everything manually, defragged, scanned, rebooted ,etc ... all multiple times.

I cleared out all my cached material and I'm still having the same problem: everything's flagged as new and unread every time I come back until I manually flag everything as read.

For me as well. I just re-did all the recommended stuff and it still doesn't work for me.

It's just strange. I keep getting 'flood control' messages every time I try to either use the Search function or View New Posts.

Welll, I'm still having the same problems with the 'Search' and 'View New Posts' features, namely receiving the 'Flood Control' message every time I use either. I have just done a full format and reinstall of everything on my computer, so I'm pretty sure it isn't caused by anything on my end.
