I'm with those that say that Mr. Polearm would not get a counterattack when Mr. Submachinegun fires.

Shadow: Why would Mr. Gun have to 'get his butt out of melee range and then fire'? He is perfectly capable of shooting while within melee range, albeit with a TN penalty.

This is why there is a gun accessory called Bayonet is it not?
Anyone skilled with it is always heavily armed, rifle or AR for ranged, and the equalivent of a spear when someone closes for melee.
And still, I've never played with a character that used bayonet. Might be because I don't want my characters to look like pre-ww2 soldiers, but bayonet s are cool.

When polearm attacks, smg get to counterattack
when smg shoot, polearm can only dodge

Okay, so I was searching through old threads looking for the Laughs in the Shadows thread and I found this one...

Any thoughts on price/damage code/conceal penalty for this?

*remebers what that looks like in visual representation when Mr.Gun has to run out of melee to fire via star wars galaxies and bangs head against wall.*

Okay, when it's not in use is it holstered or sheathed?
