I had the same thought last night. After the Resource Rush and government bankruptcy, the whole park service would be available.
I wonder if [DipSec] could extend to corporate executives in the same situation - people such as Arthur Vogel... ? |

Possibly, since there is a Corporate Diplomatic Corps.

I would think that a fair amount of the newly-out-of-work (whatever) Agency people would have been snapped up by Knight Errant, with Lone Star just a tad behind them in the line.
Not to mention with the many hot spots that popped up in the world, and the breakdown of national identity, there would be a good many positions available internationally in the 'Advisor' department. Analysts would have been snared by all the AAAs, and a lot of the major AA Corps for their unique abilities. These same Corps would probably easily find a place for an experienced 'Security Consultant" or a "Troubleshooter" or two each. This is in addition to the fair number of ex-Feds that would slip into the Shadows. All in all, I don't think there is a long line of unemployed Government Agency employees at soup kitchen. I don't think the remaining Government Agencies would 'rent out' their own assets in the manner you suggest. |

As far as I know, in real life (and in my games), the Secret Service would offer protection to all associated with Federal politics. Each individual is free to accept of decline, except for those actually in office. But, the Corp Court would possibly offer the same kind of services as the SS. |

Well, it depends. Some people are protected by the Secret Service. Others are protected by various other agencies, such as the Marshals Service.
However, anyone who requests or is given protection by the Secret Service is required to pay for the costs--except for those statutorily exempted from such payment (POTUS, VPOTUS, SecTreas, SecDHS (IIRC)) through the requirements of their official position. But I've seen enough references that I am under the impression that there are people who represent corporations in a Diplomatic capacity, which would include their host's adherence to the Vienna Convention. I would not be surprised even further if the BRA extended that to the Directors of all of the Big Ten, or perhaps even all AAA and AA corps. Likewise, the Corporate Court has a similar extraterritorial role as some organizations, such as the UN, and would also be entitled to similar protection. I just cut through the middle-man and when I had the Corp Court/Z-OG Bank take over the World Bank's pretty new (IRL) headquarters in downtown Washington I decided it wasn't that big a deal since the Aztlan embassy is across the street anyway, and they're both close enough to the White House that there are always going to be cops driving by down Penn. The USSS/UD generally patrols Embassy Row and various government-heavy areas in Washington, D.C. as well as to many of the foreign missions to the United Nations in NYC. They also do provide some security at consulates, but it usually falls onto the shoulders of the Diplomatic Security Service (They even put out a nice brochure on what you should do if you have an emergency in the U.S.). Funny, this is the result of some weird sentence that was probably just tossed into the Lone Star SB without anyone even noticing. As for your first post: No, I don't imagine there are many out of work spooks or analysts. Which brings up another idea I had about the life of a private military and security contractor working for the larger, more diversified corps like KE or MET2000. I think the info on MET2000 in SOTA64 about how sometimes one hand doesn't know the other is doing the opposite can apply to plenty of other corps, and especially to people in said corps. |
