the last two times i've posted, i've gotten the following error.

QUOTE (Firefox)
Mail Error!

SMTP protocol failure!
Host: mail.dumpshock.com
Return Code: 551
Return Msg: 551 User not local; please try
Invision Power Board Error:
Check your SMTP settings from the admin control panel

when i hit back and try again, it works--but i get two posts. i'm assuming that the first post actually went through, but that the boards glitched when they tried to load the newly-posted-to page.

i've seen several other double-posts on the boards, leading me to the tenative conclusion that there's a board-wide glitch.

The only reason I've been saved from double posting on that bug is that each time I've gotten something like that (not just here but anywhere), I've always checked the original thread first, and lo and behold, there the original post was.

However, I've also been getting the same effect on PMs, received (x2, x3) and sent, and since whatever I've sent off doesn't come up on the sent items (or if it does, it's very delayed), I have no way of knowing if it's gotten to its destination.

Note: This problem only seems to be occurring for me on threads that I am tracking, which may explain the e-mail notice.

Testing testing again.
[Edit]Not an universal problem at least, no error even when posting in a tracked thread. It doesn't seem completely random either, since a few people seem to have the problem constantly and others don't get it at all.[/Edit]

I get the occasional error message, but have yet to have a double post. Of course, I tend to check the appropriate thread before re-posting the message, and very single time the original message went through.

Yeah. I've had the message a few times, but just click my short-cut back to the main page or go back. In both cases my message went through and there was no need to refresh (hence causing a double post).
