erk... After seeing the dnd movie. a sequal? yikes!
as for the tv show... did ya notice they also mentioned Hercules and Xena in that article? Forgotten Realms ala Hercules/Xena style? Might has well throw in some reality tv show format into the mix, everyone else is doing it. This time it'll be Elminster's The Apprentice... Or how about Kelben Blackstaff's The Apprentice? What do you get when have orc fighters, an elven rangers, a goblin warriors, and human barbarians vying for the ultimate prize on an island? Why you get the Survivor Challenge! Oh how about the Real World style? :P |

Actually, there may be more than one sequal to the D&D Movie: More on the D&D Movie Sequels My favorite quote being:

'scuse me while I load up both barrels of the shotgun so I can blow my brains out cuz that's what it'll be like to watch the two upcoming sequels.
I'll probably eventually see it, but only out of morbid curiosity. |

"In the not too distant future..." |

"Next Sunday A.D.
There was a guy named Joel, Not too different from you or me." Dragonlance might not turn out too bad, because the story is already solid. |

I don't see why people didn't like the D&D movie. I thought they did fairly well in a limited time...though they might have done better splitting it up into several movies and expanding the plot more.
Of course, I liked The Matrix as well. Still wish the other two Matrix movies never existed, though...they were good only for explosions. |

okay, vote: is comparing the D&D movie and the Matrix punishable by death? i'm going for "aye".
the D&D movie was absolutely horrible. it had a low-level wizard casting dimension door left and right, and the acting sucked--partly because the roles themselves sucked. even jeremy irons was reduced to spitting at the camera to show how evil he was. |

The sequel to the existing movie has just about been confirmed. The IMDB lists it as being in post-production, which means they filmed it. In Lithuania, if memory serves. At present, the only actor listed to return from the first movie is Bruce Payne as Damodar - but being on the IMDB this far before release, the news is still unreliable. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0406728/maindetails
The same site doesn't even have any listings for either a FR tv series (something which I've heard talked about for almost 3 years), nor a Dragonlance movie. GamingReport seems to be the best place to keep an eye on as far as D&D related cinematic ventures. http://www.gamingreport.com/article.php?sid=13986 is their newest article. The last rumor I read about Marlon Wayans had him enthusiastically, if colorfully, pledging not to involve himself in any future D&D film. There was more than a hint that he may never even do fantasy again. |

Okay, I'm going to go gouge my eyes out with spoons, stick them in boxes, and mail them to the director of that piece of crap. Maybe then they'll get the hint.

awesome on the dragonlance movie hope it all goes through.
I don't see what was exactly horrid with the D&D movie. I know it wasn't all that good, but they finally broke in and actually made a movie following the D&D line, that in and of itself was reason I liked the movie. |

The date of this was back on 05 October 2001. I would not be looking for anything in the near future. |

Ugh, Dungeons & Dragons was a horrible movie. Everything about it would have to be improved for it to be something worthy of a large screen viewing, IMO. That film was fubar-ed from the ground up. The jungle gym thieves trap was sort of interesting, but not enough to hold me for the film. And what for the love of how good an actor he is, was Jeremy Irons doing in that crapfest of a film?
Sequel(s)? Well, other less deserving titles have received sequels, so I guess its only fair. Whether its a good idea or not, that remains to be seen. |
