So, how exactly did I set the rope in the pipe for the others to climb up? Does it have a suction cup, or a magnetic grappling hook?

It has a hook, I suppose you hooked it into a side pipe or tied it around a bolt.

Are there side pipes? I thought it was just that one narrow pipe all the way. Also, can we see a cieling above the chasm, or the sky or something?

Side pipes were described as no bigger than your arm.

You anchored the hook in the mouth of a smaller pipe, and used yourself as an additional anchor (this pipe was only going to be a problem if everyone tried to free climb it). The large pipe you're in seems to be some kind of main line. Smaller pipes connect with it, small streams of water running from a few, but there are no large junctions.

So, I'm using both my natural human vision and my adept thermographic vision (counts as natural) to watch out. The thermographic vision should help me tell if a surface is slick with water or not, since the water would be a different temperature. Can I see a sky or cieling?
These gecko glove sets include gloves, knee pads, and slip-on soles that go on my shoes. If they get soaked, they lose their stickiness until they dry out. They can absorb a tiny bit of water, but if I get drenched, I will probably fall. The set is strong enough to hold a fully loaded troll, so I can probably stay stuck to a surface with up to half of them disabled, but that would still make it hard to climb. Hopefully I won't fall hard enough that the rope can't hold me. |

Wait, what do you mean you climb out of the pipe after me? Do you have gecko gloves too?

Phew. I thought you meant you were going to try to climb up the rope while I was still carrying it, forcing me to carry your weight. That would have sucked.

Between the flu and medication to control the aforementioned malady, I haven't been in much condition to make another in game post. Now that I'm finally feeling over it, I'll be putting one up later today.
*edit* Too delirious to make that post. I'll try tomorrow. Good thing my computer id by my bed. This post has been edited by Sandoval Smith: Jan 31 2005, 09:14 AM |

Gromitz: nothing on the scrounging roll. Doesn't seem to be much of anything around here except pipes, water, and open space.
Taking a closer look at the ragged edge of the pipe, you think it simply succumbed to age and erosion; metal fatigue. The other pipes with in easy viewing distance seem to be in a similar condition. It looks like they all used to reach to the other side of the chasm, but have gone untended so long that they just collapsed. You see nothing else moving within viewing distance. Out of the corner of your eye, you do see what's left of a series of rungs set into the wall. There's nothing left of them but stubs of metal protruding from the wall. At some point someone chisled hand and footholds into the metal. They're damp, and a little slick, but there is no slime or algae in them. They follow the line of where the rungs used to be, leading down into the darkness, and up, past a few more large pipes, to some kind of maintenance hatch. Ares: Since you made the comment about food, I'll remind you about the box of nutrient bars that was picked up in the labratory. It doesn't taste like much, but one good sized bite (each bar consisting of about three 'bites') seems to be enough to sustain you for about a day. Even with five people eating from it, it should last a while. However, the thought of getting your teeth into something living does sound _really_ good. Fade: For most of the time you've walked, there's been a thin trickle of water along the bottom of the pipe. If anyone has any sort of testing or chemical analyzation kit, you can confirm if whatever you come across is drinkable. Or you can just pour it down the hatch. The air in the chasm is rather moist, and there is some condensation on the chasm walls. Not enough to mess up your gecko gear, but you'd probably want to climb carefully, just in case. Once you start climbing, you see the hatch about fifteen meters up too. What you can't see is the top of the chasm. It just keeps on extending up into darkness. Ace and Greven: Carry on boys, you're doing good. |

It shouldn't be dead yet. Although GMing posting of >1 a week is pretty ridiculous. My notebook with the game details rode off in a friend's car to another prefecture, and it's currently in the mail coming back. However, the common courtesy of alerting everyone else in the game that there would be a slight delay somehow failed to occur to me. :|
Depending on mail delivery, things should be running again either today or tomorrow. |

I got the notebook today, so the next update will be in a few hours when I have some time at work.
I'll keep the posting up from here on out, and make sure that the important notes and files don't wander off again (if I was a SR character, I'd have scatter brained as a four point flaw). |

Sorry, the current number of players I have is my ideal load (and look how much trouble I'm having keeping things running anyway...)
About today's post: two teachers in my department called in sick today, so I had to cover for them, leaving me with little time or energy to get it done. I'll get it up tomorrow. |

Panzergeist: There are buttons, levers, and switches all over the room, but no electricity, and due to the filfth, you can't identify anything useful at a just glance. The room is about five meters deep, three meters wide, and there's a door on the far wall from the hatchyou came through
Chance, sorry about not waiting for you to post, but I want to keep things mocing along. I'm going to say, one of the nice things about living in Japan are the manga shops. If there's a visual image that I'm looking, all I have to spend is time to practically gurantee that I'll find it. So, here are some pictures that I've culled for the Enemy, and big brother's gun. Now I just need to find a manga full of looming industrial wastelands, and I'll be all set. Your Enemy Your Enemy Big brother's gun |
