Yeah, I guess that would tie you up, just a little bit. :D As for posting, I'd really like everyone to get at least one post in between GM posts, even if it's just, "I climb the rope and crawl through the access hatch." That way, I know what eveyone is up to, even if it's just waiting. I know I've hustled some people along in the last couple of GM posts, but I didn't want to let things grind to a halt again. |

Gromitz :
I think it's pretty safe to assume that everyone went up into the maintenance access (you were the last one up), so closing the door behind you should be okay. There's no lock on the door and it's a circle that splits in half horizontally, retracting into the ceiling and floor, so no way to brace it shut. It's got a manual wheel that you are turning to make it close again, and with that strength roll, you're shutting it fast enough that it'll be closed before the enemy reaches it. Once you get it shut, if you mangle the wheel on your side badly enough, it should be pretty much impossible to get the door open again without cutting it out. If you ripe one of those wrist thick pipes off the wall you could use that as a lever on the wheel, or you could just try and strip the gears through brute force. If anyone else wants to make perception tests, poke around, whatnot, go ahead. You all just came scrambling into a small room that smells like a carcass that's been sitting in the hot sun for three days, and has a coating of filth and slime over most surfaces. |

Fade keeps searching the controls, leaving the door to his teammates.

There is another door (what looks like the primary entrance) across the room from the hatch. Someone has gone to great efforts to destroy the hydraulic and control mechanisms to open and close it. It is stuck quite firmly shut, and would probably be easier to cut through then repair.
Scraping away the crap and slime, you see labels that say things like 'Flow Control: Waste Disposal Pipe 345 B,' and 'Cleanwater Pipe 43: Access OFF.' Unless there's diagram or map somewhere you overlooked, you're going to be pretty much flipping switches and turning dials at random. You see foot and handprints in the slime on one of the consoles by the door. it looks like something crawled up onto it, then into the thick mass of cables and ventilation ducts running along the ceiling. If no one has any objections, by this point, Gromitz has successfully gotten the hatch shut. |

Sounds good. Hatch closed and jammed.

Please give me a strength roll just to see how well you mess the mechanism up.

You asked for 10 rolls and your target is unknown ... here are the results:
1: 2 2: 1 3: 6 + 5 = 11. 4: 6 + 1 = 7. 5: 6 + 5 = 11. 6: 2 7: 3 8: 6 + 2 = 8. 9: 1 10: 2 |

Everyone in the room is treated to the sound of tearing metal as Gromitz strains, the wheel deforming in his hands, then suddenly spinning as the gears it's attached to within the wall tear free.
On the other side of the hatch you hear a tap-tap-tap as if someone were politely knocking. |

As for the results of the rolls, there isn't anything useful to be scrounged up, except for bits of metal, chunks of rotten meat and bone, and slime.
Given that the room is basically a small box, stealth doesn't do a whole lot of good, although I decided to use it as a complimentary skill for spotting the thing that _was_ hiding up on the ceiling. Structural engineering tells you that the door is a wreck. No way to fix it with your current resources. |

Ace: In lowlight vision, yeah it does look a bit like gollum. Pale, wasted, looking like he's trying to get a start on rotting while still alive. Bigger than Tolien's little buddy though. So, just say it looks like gollum's big burly brother. Or something.
The hole is big enough for everyone to climb through, unless someone SURGEd into a troll without telling me. You can hear the thing scrabbling away as fast as it can go, but there is air moving through the vents, making it smell much better than the concentrated stench of the room below it. |

Ace continued to follow the creature, hoping that even if he couldn't catch it, perhaps it would lead him to something useful...like a way out of this place. He was getting tired of pipes and vents and such.
