"Urban Command Center"
Cool, except it's called the "Syn Us" -- or sinus, for those who can put two and two together. |

heh. i guess i'm in the minority for thinking it's kinda cool.
this is the product of integrating psychology with design. the events of the past four years have left a lot of people feeling insecure or afraid at certain levels. having a car that looks like a vault or bank car is often soothing to these people. |

Watch out for the phrase "bullet-resistant". It can ruin your day if you think it means "bullet-proof."

What I want to know is: Can it actually take small arms fire?

How small are these arms, and why are they on fire?
Is it some sneaky terrorist suicide flaming-baby-attack thing? Does the government know? -Albert |

I could do withouth the neon orange lighting details.
Also, how secure are the wheels, I think it'd be hysterical to see one on blocks with no tires/wheels but all buttoned up for safety. |

most likely that depends on distance to shooter and the makers definition of small arms fire :P
seriously, this looks like a armored up suv. anyone know how much gas this thing burns on a trip to the corner store? im guessing it needs a military wartime fuel budget... |

Well it's already burning diesel, so I'm betting it's got a miserable mileage problem. But, to my everlasting shame, i must confess an affection for this truck myself. If you can't have an Armored car, an armored SUV is just as good. :-)

it allso explains why they can keep claiming that there are wmds present, they sold the parts and have the paperwork to back it up ;)
cia agent: sir, we are sure that they have wmds, either in testing or deployed. president: how can you be sure? cia agent: we sold them the parts, sir... |

Humf, just saw it in Autoweek as well. Turns out it only LOOKS like an armored car. Its Alum., and with a little engine like that most likely gets pretty good milage, after all, how much can it weigh and only have 238 ft/lbs? Might shrug off a drunk with a .38, or gang bangers with an Uzi, but odds are its AK crunch-able.

Till those guys that trick out limos and such get a hold of it, replace the engine, add concealed armor panels and run-flat tires. Tweak the suspension a bit and make use of that wide wheel base for serious high-g turns.

Call it Armor Rating 3? Christ, just what the world needs, more proof Americans have more testosterone than common sense. If you want protection, buy a real armored car |
