I think you make bad calculs...

Did you notice that time doubled between each edition?

3years between 1&2
6years between 2&3
12years between 3&4 ? ?

Or you can also add 3 years each time...

3years between 1&2
6years between 2&3
9years between 3&4 ? ?

The SR4 is just a big joke... 1st Avril Fanpro Page title "HAHAHAHA! APRIL DAY! APRIL DAY!

They release too much material for SR3 Recently....
And if they planned a fourth edition, we had see them asking for playtesters, probing the SR community for idea, etc...

Indeed, he is sexier than Buddha and harder than Jesus. The secret chiefs of the world have told me as much.

I propose it is a lie. A Fibbonachi lie. Regardez:

1st Edition.
2nd Edition == 1st Edition + 2nd Edition == 3 Year Wait.
3rd Edition == 1st Edition + 2nd Edition + 3rd Edition == 6 Year Wait.

Clearly, we are still 3 years away from the 10 year delay necessary for a 5th Edition.

I'm not going to go into the rest of your comments, other than to say that it's very much real. As for your two comments that I quoted, however:
  • They have an existing pool of playtesters to pull from, and beyond that have a pool of freelance writers. There is a sufficiently large number of potential playtesters that it is not necessary to publically recruit more.
  • "Probing the SR community" is pretty easy since most of the vocal parts of it hang out in these forums. They do read the forums, you know. :)

It's not so much probing SR users as it is separating the legitimate comments from a ton of crap.

They all must have been proctologists before they got into Shadowrun, right?

I got probed before, and it was nothing like this.

More pointiness, and flashy lights.
