I'm having my fledgling team take a trip down to Portland. I just wanted a bit more info on the Rite of Progression. I may use it as a story hook, depending.

1. May 1, 2036: First Rite is held. May 1, 2043 (7 years later): Second Rite is held. May 1, 2050 (7 years again): Third Rite is held. Fourth Rite of Progression is postponed in 2057. What is the reason for the postponement?

2. Surehand says the fourth Rite will be held in 2063 (13 year span since last Rite). Is there anything to this and the other spans of time between the Rites... besides the number of years being prime numbers?

3. Since SoNA is set at August 2062, how does the 2063 Rite of Progression go down? Any interesting news or changes that a curious GM should note?

Regarding Tir Social Rank:

4. How does one pronounce Irenis?

5. What are the social equivalents of Gentry through Ducal social status levels? The Irenis and Royal levels are fairly easy to comprehend.

Regarding Council of Princes:
6. Why is there a secret member on the CoP? What is his/her function? Who is he/her?

7. Who filled the shoes of Ehran the Scribe after he left supposedly in late 2062 (September through December)?

8. What was up with the retirement of Lofwyr and Oakforest off the CoP?

Okay, that's it. :)

What is the reason for the postponement?

The state of emergency declared after Dunkelzhan's death.

It may just have something to do with the resolution of the Glasgian issue and shuffling of the Princes on the Council.

3.  Since SoNA is set at August 2062, how does the 2063 Rite of Progression go down?  Any interesting news or changes that a curious GM should note?

You know, I can't remember anything being said about it. You'd think the SSG or SotA would mention it, but maybe they do I and forgot.

QUOTE
8.  What was up with the retirement of Lofwyr and Oakforest off the CoP?

Oakforest lost his son to Lofwyr's teeth thanks to Hestaby. In exchange, Hestaby gets Lofwyr's seat on the council, but that may also have something to do with the Crater Lake locus.

Presumably, Dunkelzahn's assassination and the subsequent lockdown of the Tir state had something to do with it. (SoNA p138, first sentence also p142 timeline)

2.  Surehand says the fourth Rite will be held in 2063 (13 year span since last Rite).  Is there anything to this and the other spans of time between the Rites... besides the number of years being prime numbers?
Probably not... it's more likely due to social pressure from the discontent Tir residents, who are starting to see the social rank system as a means of control rather than an opportunity.
QUOTE
3. Since SoNA is set at August 2062, how does the 2063 Rite of Progression go down? Any interesting news or changes that a curious GM should note?
No references in SOTA:2063 or SOTA:2064.
QUOTE
4. How does one pronounce Irenis?
I'm guessing they use short I's in pronounciation, so either "eh-REN-is" or "eh-rin-ISS".
QUOTE
5. What are the social equivalents of Gentry through Ducal social status levels? The Irenis and Royal levels are fairly easy to comprehend.
(SoNA p140, table):
Irenis - classless
Gentry - Squire (most common folk)
Chivalry - Sir or Demoiselle
Noble - Lord/Lady
Comital - Count/Countess
Ducal - Duke/Duchess
Royal - Prince/Princess
QUOTE
6. Why is there a secret member on the CoP? What is his/her function? Who is he/her?
Presumably, to have a valuable perspective from an individual who is NOT publicly scrutinized or under any pressure from lobby groups/special interests. Can't find any references to who it may be, although it may be Harlequin (if the events in Worlds Without End are a clue).
QUOTE
7. Who filled the shoes of Ehran the Scribe after he left supposedly in late 2062 (September through December)?
Jenna Ni'Fairra has been pushing Feana Sterling for the position, but I'm not sure if that went through. (SoNA p146) Edit: Yeah, there's also talk about James Telestrian III gunning for that seat. Considering how long it takes for elves to do anything, we may not see the result of that for years.
QUOTE
8. What was up with the retirement of Lofwyr and Oakforest off the CoP?
Something involving Glasgian Oakforest (nummy!). The other possible additional event would be the happenings in Survival of the Fittest 2062. Allegedly, Larry Zincan, the ork Prince, was also involved (SoNA p148).

4.  How does one pronounce Irenis?

Dunno. I personally pronounce it "ear-in-ish."

QUOTE (Crimson Jack)
5.  What are the social equivalents of Gentry through Ducal social status levels?  The Irenis and Royal levels are fairly easy to comprehend.

Middle class, Upper-middle class, and Lower-Upper class on the income brackets.

Regarding Council of Princes:
6.  Why is there a secret member on the CoP?  What is his/her function?  Who is he/her?

Because the others would kill her if she tried to rule openly, to keep her hand in and peace with the other Tír, and Alachia/Sósan Naerain.

QUOTE (Crimson Jack)
7.  Who filled the shoes of Ehran the Scribe after he left supposedly in late 2062 (September through December)?

James Telestrian III claimed the seat, but no news whether or not he got it. Of course, JT would probably shoot Prince Rex and stuff him for a hunting trophy on live trid to get a Council seat.

Alachia/Sósan Naerain.

According to SoNA, she's one of the known 12. There's a 13th missing slot which is presumably the secret member.

So, was Ehran the secret member prior to being officially allowed on the CoP?

Ehran was openly-secret, Sosan was supposed to be secret-secret.

Aha! I knew it was in the books somewhere. SOTA: 2064, p160, news item number 5. James Telestrian DID get a seat (the one vacated by Oakforest) while Feana Sterling got Ehran's old seat. However, she was assassinated shortly afterwards by a Rinelle cell three days after claiming it. *cue muted trombone* Waa waa waaaa....
