The guns from Rayguns would be on a case by case issue...being as they are current weapons which would be antiques by the time they reach 2064. In an impoverished area they may be more readily available. I dont have a problem with a similarly modeled weapon made using the weapon creation rules in the cannon companion though.

The reasoning is that a lot of gun models stay in circulation for a long time. The Colt 1911 is still produced today even though it came out almost a hundred years ago. Along with the MP5 (which came out in the 60's) and many other weapons. SO to say that the Glock 20 on RG's page isn't an antique Glock 20, it is a Glock 20 produced in 2063. Much like if you buy a Ford Thunderbird today it is not the same model produced in the 50's.

My point being that the guns add a variety of tactical flavor that is otherwise missing from Shadowrun. Having said that, a case by case basis is good enough for me :)

So far i have competeing for slots : 2 Medics
2 Combat Mages
2 Snipers

Others who have posted are either unique or not similar to others above.

I will decide based on the better feel i have for the characters so, that being said get to work writing chummers.

There is a specialty that has not been hit on yet which may buy the person whom gets it an automatic in.(still must pique my interest through BG/concept)

Also so far Thomas is the only one who is just a merc (clever that one)

WinterRat1 brought up intiation.

If the players picked dont wish to have the team karma pool then another avenue is available:

Collegium Legio Spathas

Also known as "The War College"

Accepts Mages, Shamans (of battle type totems), and PhyAds

Fraternity, Oath strictures

The College is split into Cohorts numbering from 10 to 30 members. (This may be seen as a circle in some traditions)

There are 10 known Cohorts with a mixture of social cohorts made up of members of the different cohorts who gravitate towards each other due to interests.

Rating 12 Libraries and lodges in Cohort houses, the College it self is a rating 15 library.

Titles within include: Legionare( includes immunes and Triarii)
Immunes- exempt from certain duties
Triarii- 3rd rank, no title/rank but trusted and valued as one
with title/rank.(this was the veteran warriors of Rome, and
the term to fall back on the Triarii meant a battle would go
badly without the Triarrii.
Centurian- Cohort leader or title based on achievement

All members have a tattoo: I TAN I EPI TAS (greek: WITH YOUR SHIELD,OR ON IT)
it's from the spartans.

I know just about nill of military ranks. I had kind of intended him to be like the Director of counter terrorism or counter intelligence, but doing work for both groups and figured that he would need to be an officer to head up a division like that, I was going to make him a Liuetenant Coronel but I decided that it might be a bit much though my grandfather retired from the service as a lieutenant Coronel after 20 years. I'm assuming you know more about the military then I do, so I'll leave it open to your suggestion before I write up the detailed background.

Also jack could double as the leader for the group, since he retired a middle rank officer. And he's not a sniper, I don't like snipers, his job for the team would be to indentify and take out snipers. Playing a sniper doesn't leave much to the imagination, but playing counter sniper could give more depth to the character.

He would be good leadership material, I plan on making him a nice well rounded character not just a over speciailized killing machine, though he will be extremely deadly.

There is the job of just counter-intelligence 0211, they promote through their ranks almost exclusively ie their officers are over 75% prior enlisted from the ranks of the MOS. The MOS isnt available till the rank of Corporal. After the mandatory 6 month indoctrination period your next schools are CQB, and airborne (parachuting) school. Ranger and sniper school as mission tempo dictates.

On a side note: snipers are used as counter-snipers.....takes a thief to catch a thief theory in motion.

the leadership role will have to be decided by the players. I will say this though...you do have a Manager/Handler if the team opts for the team karma pool he is a free contact (lvl 3) to every member of the team. If they dont opt for it, he's mainly just a Mr. Johnson with a good rep. I'm not trying to force feed anyone the team karma pool and it shouldnt be voted on until i've chosen the players. I'm just throwing out perks as 10% of your "accumalated" karma in the characters life is a heavy price. Like I stated before I'm not forcing anyone into it and since it wont be decided until after I've picked it isnt a factor in the choosing.

Jack could scout, well he could do just about anything combat related, due to previous training, he was the leader of a Counter Terrorist team and worked closely with the Counter Intelligence guys, so it would make sense for him to know each of his team's jobs, just incase of a stray bullet or an ambush.

I had no idea that snipers were counter snipers too, but it makes perfect sense, I just kind of assumed that it was just part of a team and somebody needed to worry bullets from no where. He wouldn't make a good team sniper though, assualt rifles simply don't have the range for it(better than a holdout pistol, but still not 1,000 meters it's 550 for anybody who doesn't know it off the top of their head), and I don't feel like shelling out that kind of cash for a rifle, though the 121 looks pretty cool...

Call me Archangel.

Nice to meet you Mr.? Johnson, right.

My fixer tells me you're looking for a runner with military experience.

Yes, I was a Lt. Col in the U.C.A.S.' Special Operations Teams.

Yes, I'm a mage. That is what you asked for, correct?

So, just because I'm a mage I'm not supposed to be able to handle myself in a fight? Sorry to disappoint you.

My story? Why not, I've got a few minutes. Buy me a drink and we'll talk...

I never pictured myself a military man. In fact, I never saw myself leaving Puyllup. Running the streets with my friends, robbing good, honest folk, and harassing… well pretty much anyone who struck my fancy was my idea of a good time. All that changed when I, mistakenly of course, found myself in the possession of some stolen property. It must have fallen out of the undercover police officer’s pocket while I was mugging him. The judge was less than understanding. Can you believe that? He told me I had to join the military or go to jail! I would have strangled him and spit on his corpse if there hadn’t been three polices officers between us, and the fact that I was handcuffed (they do that when you bite) to my chair. I was so pissed off I could have chewed nails! It was then that a fire erupted in the center of the courtroom. The doctors told me later that it was my latent magic ability manifesting. Hell, I was nearly seventeen, well past the usual age for that sort of thing. But things like that do happen so I’m told. I spent until my seventeenth birthday in juvee and the court “emancipated” me. This means, of course, they chained me to a bus and sent me to boot camp. Upon retrospect it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I found that discipline and three free meals a day agreed with me.
After boot I was assigned to the Mage Corps where I was to learn how to use my newly discovered abilities. I found that I excelled at it. My photographic memory served as an invaluable tool in learning spell formulae. I poured myself into my work and absorbed all I could. Three years later I emerged 2nd Lt. James Evans. I spent the next three years hopping from one theatre to another. During a stint in South America I met a Colonel from the 35th Special Ops. He recruited me and I spent the next ten years running gray and black ops on nearly every continent.
I wrapped up my obligations and decided to go home. I found that my friends hadn’t changed much. They were happy to see me initially. But I had grown up and they hadn’t. Sell out, traitor, the man’s pet; all names they had for me. I found that without work James was a dull boy. So, I packed up my toys and went looking. Germany, Belgium, Brazil, anywhere someone was looking for “skilled” labor. Now I'm back in Seattle on vacation. So, you have my references, my resume, and my life story. Are you interested in my services or not? I don’t have all day. Time is money and you've burned enough of mine...

I wouldn't mind getting in on this game. I'm a pretty reliable poster, at least as far as frequency and dedication are concerned.

I usually play magician characters, typically shamanic, and only occasionally hermetic. I have been wanting to play an adept scout-type character of mine for a long time now, and at this power level, it should be possible to properly reflect the variety of skills that should be involved in real spec-ops-type campaigns.

Anyway ...

Nathaniel Scott Sharpe

Race: Human Amerindian
Occupation: Staff Sergeant (ret), Freelance Security Consultant
Sex: Male
Height: 1.88m.
Weight: 96kg.
Hair: Black ponytail
Eyes: Ice blue
Age: 27

Field of Expertese: Scout/point man

Skills: hand-to-hand and several ranged combat skills (including bow), high stealth, mid-to-high level skills in most military-related, active, non-combat skills, etc.

More info on demand. I have a basic outline and background in mind, but I find things may change when it comes down to the actual numbers involved. I will definitely be purchasing a bit of Karma. I would also be interested in the Initiatory Group, and have no real interest in a Team Karma Pool. In my opinion, unless the characters are all members of an already established unit, as opposed to individual, best-of-the-best merc-types, Team Karma really makes no sense.

QUOTE (Sphynx)
"The Panther" was a feared name amongst the temple guards of Aztlan, the Amazonian guardian had made himself seen once again as he ripped through yet another platoon of guards who were out collecting taxes in the distant villages. His black form tore through them and left nothing but sickening carnage everywhere. More hunting parties were sent out, bounties were raised, but this mythical animal had become a legend amongst the commoners who were forced to live under the iron heel of Aztlan, something that had finally stood up and fought back. The guerillas became more motivated, attacks against Aztlan increased 10 fold over the past 4 months since the Panther attack started.

Panther is a shamanic warrior who has made magic his bed fellow, and used it to perfect his body into that of a killing machine. Despite all of that, the man who becomes the Panther, Cornelius, is a well educated gentleman who performs his vigilante work against the oppressors. His vengeance for his parent's deaths being paid back a thousand fold.

The night pressed down on the land like a warm blanket. Stuffy, and just plain hot in a way that made the tongue feel taut and the tongue dry. The silent 'whip-whip-whip' of the heli's propellors broke through the silence onboard, revealing a team of black outfitted rebels looking down at the Teocalli, the red lights from their night goggles creating an eerie effect in the darkness. In paired unison they jumped, diving for the pyramid-like temple below. The last one out was not a man, but a Hawk the size of a man. As the men activated the metal drone strapped to their chest, suddenly reducing their air speed as the drone slowed down their aerial fall. With a practiced percision, the team landed at the balcony near the top of the Teocalli.

The Hawk landed on the top, transforming into the Black Panther as he stalked his way down the steep incline of the Teocalli. Jaguar Gaurds never knew what hit them, the silenced rifles carefully picking them off as a Panther wreaked havoc through their midst. Within mere seconds, the guards were deactivated, and the Teocalli was theirs for the taking. The Panther slipped off into the darkness, the stench of blood already ruining the night air as the heat caused the stench to strengthen.

[OOC: Seemed the best way to describe my character is through story, so until characters are chosen, I'll post a new 'story' for the reading pleasure of everyone. :)]

Most counter-sniper operations in the field involve a radio operator calling mortars or artillery. Using snipers as spotters in the field to narrow down the area, sniper as counter-sniper is more an urban enviroment concept.

Go-kart

Dwarf Ex-Ganger/Vehicle Rigger

Working in a chop-shop was as close as he ever got to a legitimate career, but it taught him alot about cars, and gave him a doorway to the shadows. He got his name when he built himself a "car" from scrap parts, and brought it to the boulevard to race the big boys. They had their custom imports and muscle cars, while his looked like a suped-up golf cart. He didn't beat anyone, but he impressed (and entertained) everyone there. That night, he was approached by the leader of a local car-jacking ring, and offered some work.

He started working exclusively for the gangers and eventually became a full member, handling all their mechanical needs, which were many, considering the amount of cars they boosted. Usually, he was given a pretty fair cut, and started to make out real well. Alot of his money was spent on rigger-ware, and he soon became the best handler in the gang, too. He started going on runs with them, speeding off with the goods after they busted in.

In time, the gang got real good. They started going for bigger targets, like hospital choppers, the odd LAV, yachts, and even an entire UPS airplane (mail included). They got too good. The heat was no problem, but when actual crime syndicates took notice, the drek hit the fan.

The powerful Italian mafia forced them into very unfavorable working conditions, and used their influence to control their actions. They also started taking huge cuts. It reached the point where it was easier to flee. The gang disbanded and found other ways to use their skills.

It was relatively easy for Go-kart to fake a fiery death and then make his way down to Mexico, to fight as a mercenary in the constant skirmishing going on down there. It was a good way to push his limits, and he became a decent combat pilot. He could get behind the lines better than most, and could hold his own in a firefight.

[OOC - I'll leave off there. Kind of want to leave some options open for myself at this point, and I know I'll get carried away, if I haven't already.]

Everything was wrong, the moon was in the wrong orbit, the stars were aligned incorrectly, the fog even seemed to press in too thickly, that should have been my first clue. But I am a warrior borne, and we had a mission that I was going to see through. A Cabal had been identified, information brought to us from an outside source. Sure, we should have delved more deeply into the source in hind-sight, but we'd become immortals, immune to those that plagued the lands in our own minds. Our objective didn't even exist, their objective... was me.

We arrived at the glade, a patch of grass and rocks inside a canyon which hid it from the rest of the world, we stealthily made our approach, me in my Panther form, taking the lead. Down the steep cliff, not a single loose rock was touched in the descent. It was as perfect as our other raids, this time however, we couldn't see our targets. Sure, the fog, the darkness, there were a ton of reasons in our mind's eye, but we should have been smarter, there was no sound. Then there was... a high pitched noise that had all of us crouched down to the ground, not that it did any good, night flares went off all above our heads, a thick green gas started to cover the entire area from wall to wall.

The others were wise, they ran, escaping the gas before it took them over, I relied on magick, wanting to remain unseen, I put up an Oxegenate spell to overcome the sickness raining down around me, crouched up under a rock, relying on the black fur to keep me from sight, just another shadow on the walls. However, stealth didn't help a whole helluva lot when they searchers are spirits of the land.

To make a long story short, it was over for me. I'd been captured by none other than the Shamans of the enemy, magic to fight magic, sound strategy. Paralyzed from the gas that was too strong for my spell, I was dragged into the earth, our information having been somewhat correct, only about 6 meters higher than the Cabal actually was. I knew the torture and interrogtion to come, having prepared myself for it for weeks now, should I ever be captured. But, as if to keep me on my toes, they released me under the ground, dispelling the spell that maintained my panther form.

"You are sought by the government for crimes against the State, the bounty on your head is high enough to turn even a peasant's head toward you. Your life is forfeit, yet still, you never stop fighting.", a voice I recognized said loudly in the echo of the cavern, stepping forward I saw Alonzo, someone I considered a friend, a powerful Shamanic type who fought at my side... He was with these Jaguar Guard types? Then I noticed that about half the faces were those I recognized as allies, and the other half were definitely enemies. I nearly choked on how many 'traitors' were in our midst. "For that reason, you are being given a chance to join us. You are too powerful an ally to lose now, but now that you are finding out about us, the choice is to join, or die I'm afraid my friend.", did he say ally?

This was my introduction to the Collegium Legio Spathas, a group of warrior borne shamans and mages (although in the Aztlan rebellion, that was 90% Shamans), the tattoo was branded onto me as I accepted their offer, an offer unrefuseable, not because of the threat of death, the threat almost made me refuse actually, but rather, because they were the most powerful weapon I'd ever seen for my own cause. The Jaguar type Shamans were the spies, not those I called friends. Spies caused by the damage to the forests and landscape by those they started out protecting. Aztlan created their own traitors through their actions. Life from here changed dramatically. I'd become a part of a well oiled machine.

Name: Jason "Johnny Reb" Jackson
Specialty: Vehicle Rigger/Weapon Spec

Background: Hunting and cars were the things on a teenager's mind in the sleepy little town in Alabama that Johnny hailed from. However, he took both to a whole new level. He managed to curtail some of his fun to apprentice with the local mechanic to earn the money for his first VCR, and to tinker on his old fixer upper.

As he was nearing graduation, one of Johnny's friends introduced him to Edward Maxwell. He was looking for new recruits to help him fight the Azzies. Johnny, being proud of his family's military heritage that could be traced all the way back to the great Stonewall Jackson, jumped at the opportunity to defend the boarders of his country.

No, this wasn't the military. But rather a branch of the Sons of the Alamo, that was out to turn the cold war with Aztlan hot, and hopefully get the full force of the CAS to take back the Texas territory that was lost...and then some. It was here that Johnny developed a love for military grade weapondry for the places where his rides just couldn't take him. The pay was good, and gave him access to items that he wouldn't have dreamed of having back home.

It was too good to last, though. Eventually one of the border patrol stations they hit turned out to be a heavily fortified ambush. What was left of the unit was scattered to the winds. So he was left adrift in Texas, a rebel with a cause, but unfortunatly without the support to follow it.

Keep the 10 karama in reserve as ALL players must accept the team karma pool idea. I believe its a good idea but, its up to the players picked and i wont be basing my decisions on the team karma pool. In fact it shouldnt be discussed till after picking in the ooc post i'll create.
