Other than the very small blurb in the comet source book, is there any info on
this occupied city? Does Aztlan contain any details?

Hopefully Shadows of Latin America will contain some on Occupied Texas.

I ran some games in San Antonio. San Antonio was in the 1st Dragon Heart Saga and the Third Dragon Heart Saga book. There's a really powerfull focus down there in an old river bed. They built a temple next to it and some creatures from the otherside poured into the corpses of many many fallen acolytes and sacrifices. In the book a blood spirit was created from a sacrificed mage. The mages consciousness was transfered to it.

I'm not sure what the status of the temple is now that the Astral Rift was closed at the end of the third book but there's lots and lots of bad mojo going on North of SanAntonio. Lots of bad bad mojo so who knows what's crawling around the country side there. This was Mr. Darke's main point of magic.

Besides that there's not much there. If your interested in getting more do a web search. Maybe there's more out there. San Antonio is a big shipping & distribution center so there's going to be alot of agricultural and manufacturer traffic over the border. I figure that cargo will searched ect. I run the Austin border as something like Berlin during the cold war. You can go back and fourth but you have better have the right paperwork or your toast. Not to mention I figure there would be large scanners for trucking and train traffic to scan the internals of the vehicles for weapons and smuggling.

I've been wanting to write some stuff for the South so if your interested message me and we might be able to put together some content otherwise check the Shadowrun Wikpedia.

Thanks for the info. Are the Dragonheart books worth reading?
I checked the Wiki, no info there. Gonna have to make stuff up. But that
is half the fun.

That's a hell of a loaded question.

I'd say yes.

They are interesting, even vital, to understand Shadowrun's metaplot. But the Capital is vital to understand European politics and the cold war too. Doesn't make it a good read, and neither is Dragonheart. In fact, it's an all-time low in SR novels, if you ask me. But it contains very important setting information, and that makes it worth reading.

I'm not sure if it's the all-time worst set of SR novels. But it's trying.

After the introductions of Ryan Mercurys background the books became the worst sr-novels ever. And the wet dream of every munchkin.

I don't think they were nessacarily munchkin. I kind of dug them. They had a nice mythological aspect to them that I liked. Granted Ryan and Ms. Daviar are heavy hitters in the world but that's not different than reading about Elric or Conan or any other fantasy superhero. He went from stereotypical good guy to more "I'm in this for myself." I thought the back stories in the novel were fun as well as Alice. I liked the players involved and Mr. Darkke. Granted they're not works of litterary genius or American Masters but they were a good light read. I thought Jak Koke did well. Although I didn't like the love scenes that kind of wigged me out. I'm not into shadow soft porn. I liked that the VP of the US had some strong ties to the Duke and it made sense with what happened to all parties involved. Granted some of the scenes were a little campy at times but for the most part I thought Jak did a good job. Who cares if they parties in involved were power players. What mytholgical story doesn't have a heavy hitter. I'm not saying it's a gritty street level story but it was never meant to be that. So overall I kind of dug it. Although I think Jak should have read about Carswell Airforce base in the orignial Neo Anarchists guide to North America but that's a very very minor detail. I dug that the base of the story took place outside of San Antonio. That really was cool in my oppinon. Not everything takes place in Seattle and you know how it goes, "everything is bigger in Texas".

What? You mean the part where his parents were killed by random street violence, then the big D saves him, and raises him while training him to be a physad who can fight a dragon to a standstill? Those were the best evah :please: /sarcasm off

The novels had some flaws but overall I think they were done well. I enjoyed them anyway. One thing that kinda disturbs me is Jak Koke's overly casual dispatching of mages. I mean seriously two of the runners mages died in a few days, and how many others died? :dead: :dead: :dead:
