I can appreciate the perception of "bleak" ;)
Separate room with cages, manual exterior door (an elf's just opened it), cages with manual catches.
About 10 minutes.
It was about 30:70 before - more likely to run than fight. It's more important to them to hold up their rep before other gangs than before Lone Star.
The contact used to be through their clubhouse, but they're not there right now. Actually, that should come as a good sign, yes? |

Who wants to spoof the call? Can we do that? "Lonestar, to serve and protect. How may we help you today? Yes sir, we'll send someone out right away. Kthnxbye." |

As we have the correct frequency from the scanner, Advent will try to use his RCD & emulation module to spoof the security guard's cellular connection. If this is successful he'll pretend Lone Star are sending help, as suggested by Shanshu.
If he can't spoof the connection, he'll just "up the flux" and jam that frequency using the RCD. I don't think it's a good idea for Solitaire to handle this job as she would have to logoff the buildings system, then reconnect to the Seattle matrix via the satellite dish, and then reconnect to the building again after the spoof ( increasing the security tally again ). |

Hmm, nice idea. Our security tally is getting a bit high for much more fooling around. Sigh, knowing when to stick to the plan and when to junk the plan may be worth a spin off thred...

Better do this quickly - at this rate this connection won't last another 15 minutes today. (Is anyone else having problems accessing Google or e-mail?)
For now it looks like the major question was that of whether it was possible for Advent to intercept and spoof the call. He can do it, but it was so tight for time (and from something apparently unexpected), he just jammed it for a few seconds - came across as a busy signal - and when the guard tried to call again, Advent was set up so he could tap right in. ""Lonestar, to serve and protect. How may we help you today? Yes sir, we'll send someone out right away. Kthnxbye." Sounds like he bought it. (You knew the relatively high team CHs would come in useful at some point!) |

Has this topic died.. :(
If not, we'll send Trogdor ahead to see whether it will be possible for Ghost to sneek past the Hellhound kennels unnoticed. |

I would assume that Talia is a bit busy. She said something to that effect a few posts back.
I'd recommend comming up with an altenate to the extraction plan that treats those in the building as 'potentailly infected with something' and we keep them seperated from the rest of the team for some observation. We don't want to ture Seattle into the 'amazing disintegrating zombie city', now do we? Lets hope the extractee is not already a pile of dust in the corner somewhere... |

Good point, one thing we need to consider then is that Trodgor is "potentially infected," but needs to return to his body within another 5-6 hours, and his body is in the warwagon with Solitaire & Advent. If the plan goes to plan Ghost and (hopefully) the girl will be extracting using the Nightglider. If Trodgor stays astral for as long as possible after the extraction we can use the warwagon as a quarantine area once we get to our hideout. Advent & Solitaire can remove the cyberdeck and RCD from the van (to allow recon of any further target sites), and leave Trodgor's body inside the van. Ghost and the girl can meet us at the hideout, and enter the van once everyone else have got out. I'd say it should be safe for Diamond to use the warwagon as long as Trodgor hasn't re-entered his body. |

I'm sorry! I was going through all the pages I'd missed, oldest first, hadn't gotten to this. And I'll still have to stall for another day or two - if I'm lucky, I'll have the time tomorrow, otherwise day after - but it's very much still active.

I don't own any SR3 source books and I don't have MitS in front of me so I might be missing the obvious; but is there any incidence of astral disease? Those are a lot of precautions that could slow down the escape I mean egress of the team. There is always the case that this is something new, but I'm curious about the extra caution. I'm not saying don't do it; trying to learn something new potentially.
It doesn't protect Ghost or the target though. They've both been in there and will both probably be exposed (further exposed in Ghost's case) to Trogdor's astral presence. In the case of the target, it doesn't matter once delivery is done (nothing personal, just biz), but something will have to be for Ghost and Trogdor and sooner is better (if there is something actually wrong). If it is new then hopefully the answer is coming up. Again might be stating the obvious, or (worse) restating what's been already said; but G and T-dor are going to have to be a little extra careful now. Well, maybe. If that guy didn't dust on a schedule, then maybe he'll be missed, and maybe someone will go looking for him. So this will have to be considered a traffic lane for a bit. |

We didn't explore the idea of having a street doc on call in case of a major snafu, but we know that we have to consult academic authorities once we get clear.
An Eagle or Snake would be useful as well. -Siege |

Well it's not too late. Diamond probably has a street doc contact, or knows someone how does. Or a Snake shaman contact or knows someone who does. It'll give him something to do while standing around. I know he's keeping the reigns in on the gang, but a couple of comm calls shouldn't distract him too much.

If someone knows a Street Doc, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have him waiting on standby (for a retainer) and put in a call to an appropriately connected shaman, advising him or her that we may have something needing an expert magical opinion.
Normally having a street doc on standby is a bit extreme but I have a bad hunch on this one. And we need to expect to do a complete scrub of all gear and equipment deployed on this job. -Siege |

Today, this first :) As usual, I'm concentrating on questions and background information.
The hall is clear at the moment. There was an elf with another wheelbarrow - that's who was opening the door - but he's stepped into the room with the cages and the door is currently closed behind him. (I'm going to assume that Trogdor doesn't enter the hellhound room, so he doesn't see the elf himself - the elf had already gone in - but you've got the drone for a limited view.) Looks like he's going to be busy for a while. He's obviously puzzled over why the hellhounds were reacting as they were earlier, but then he shrugged and began working. Through the drone, you can see that what he's unloading from the wheelbarrow and tossing into the cages looks like ... well, you catch a glimpse of fingers on that piece. Just tell me if/when she's doing it.
We'll add one into those unspecified contacts: Galina, a troll Snake shaman and sometime shadowrunner. She works with a network of street docs in that part of Seattle that's borderline Barrens. (It's medicine, not education, but oddly enough it's not unlike Diamond's "day job" - albeit rather more time-intensive.) It's a tad more distracting for Diamond than you're suggesting, Siege, but he gets the call off. [Edit: I meant Entropy Kid. Really.] He catches her voicemail, she'll get the message within the hour. That usually means she can be available maybe 15 minutes after that at the clinic Diamond knows about. If she has to meet the team somewhere else, will probably take more time.
As you pointed out, it is a bit extreme and went completely unmentioned before, so I'm disallowing the standby retainer on this one. (Something perhaps to keep in mind for the future?) However, you can get Galina (+ network resources, meaning possibly another reliable street doc or three) within the time span I mentioned. |

Actually, I didn't mention anything about time constraints or distractions (:grinbig:), but:
"Hey Galina, we may need some medical opinions in the next three hours. How much would you charge me to be ready just in case? On top of any other expenses incurred while actually using your expertise, naturally. Give me a call back. Thanks." Some days you just can't spare time to bother with Negotiations and just pay the asking price. :D -Siege |

D'oh! I knew I meant to change that attribution to Entropy Kid! and I backchecked that one too! (Had my new topic post destroyed twice by bouncing in the past hour ... sigh ...)
(Talia sets a new tradition by just assuming there's a "Sorry about that" with respect to something buried into every post.) And you'd better believe the asking price is going to be steep for this one. Ever seen Kurosawa's Red Beard? That's what Galina's like - only female :D |

It's the price you pay for not planning ahead. Pun intended. However, if anyone would rather we _not_ have medical attention waiting just in case, speak up now. Or click twice on the mic. We can always use the trauma patch method of "oops." -Siege Edit: Tal, for long posts, write them in notepad first. That way you're less likely to lose the whole thing for a computer glitch. /edit |
