I find it interesting that the last line of that article reads "as it is setting that sells games, not rules.", after all of this SR4 conversion noise.

(Although do notice the context. They're discussing making computer games and movies based off of RPGs to draw in new customers. In that regard truthfully, the mechanics really don't draw in the players since the mechanics are oftentimes disregarded with video games, and absolutely disregarded with movies.)

Shadowrun: The Movie...

[STREET SAM ENTERS STAGE, HE LOOKS LIKE THE TIN MAN] If I only had a heart!

Alternatively...

Shadowrun: The Movie...

Starring... Bruce Payne! (The evil made from the D&D movie).

evil made? Yeah, My spell checking sucks too.

If they made a SR movie, they'd probably have his spur pop out of the bottom of the sammies arm instead of the top, and have a goofy elf ninja girl with a hose that runs to her arm pit anyways. I have high hopes for the video game. I just hope that my expectations aren't too high.

The closest thing I would want to see to a SR movie would be Neuromancer. After what they did to Johnny Mneumonic I could see them badly botching that too. If Micheal Mann did it like he was supposed to it would be really good (I think). The Wachowski brothers might do Neuromancer some good. Molly Millions=Michelle Rodriguez.

A SR movie would need a really good script and a lot of fanboys would still be unhappy with it. "Jessica Simpson as an Elf Covert Ops specialist? Ryan Reynolds as a Street Sam? Owen Wilson as an Owl Shaman? Lucy Liu as a face? She's the only good thing about the movie! Oh No...Hell No, not paying to see it!" People that aren't familiar would say, " What's Shadowrun?" Still it could translate into big $$$ if done right.

So a movie could pump money into a franchise like Shadowrun. I still see it sucking up more money than making it though.

Dear God, no.

I like Rodríguez, but this isn't for her.

Heh, I have an idea. Let's pool our money, buy the rights to American Ninja, and make American Ninja 6: The Shadowrun.
