So SR4 is out, and some of you lucky sods already have it. So how about building some viable PCs for practice and posting them here?

For bonus points, enter them in the SR4 section of the Shadowrun NPCs Wiki. :D

OK, now that it is available as PDF and more people have it than just a select number of people who have been to GenCon...

...maybe now someone can take a stab at creating new SR4 PCs!

(and post them to the Wiki, too... :D)

Sorry we're al still busy reading the pdf and trying to play some games with the new system :P I'd post the character I made but it's currently at my GM's House so you'll have to wait until tonight. I'll go get it and I'll copy it here to make an example of all you lazy fools, hehehe.

still tweaking mine to get the best performance, (no i'm not min/maxing, its a matter of getting it to play right) and i dont have half the positive and negetive qualities i'm used to so i have to talk with my GM on conversions of things like vindictive, combat monster, and a few other positive and negetive qualities

edit: how do you post, i never could figure that out, i have SR3 characters to post there to, contacts and such

First you need to go to one of the index pages (for example, "Shadowrun 3E NPCs by Profession").

Now click on the "edit" function at the top of the page. You will see a couple of names inside double brackets. Enter the name of your own NPC in the appropriate category, and put the name inside double brackets as well. Save the changes.

Now you will see the index page again, but the name you just entered will appear in red. That means that it is a link, but the link doesn't have an associated page yet. Click on that link, and you will see a newly created edit page. Enter the text for your NPC, save the chances, and you are done - the NPC is entered into the Wiki.

I hope that helps.

OK, there's one: Gareth Moore. He's built as a starting character, but in point of fact conjuring is so overpowered that this conjuring focused terrorist is capable of being a main villain to take on the entire team.

Background:

Born in a small corporate family, Kevin was given some of the best schooling. Till the crash happened, and his family were droped from the system. His father was jacked in and was one of the casulties of the day. His mom grabbed him and what items she could and headed to her family, since her husband had been the only productive member of the family. She applied for a replacement SIN from the corp, but they never replied back... effectively writting off her and Kevin as useless. Despondant at the treatment, she did not request another from the governement when they were offered.

Her family helped as best they could, Kevin was given access to teachersofts and as he grew older his sensative skin bothered him enough that he spent more and more time with computer systems inside than playing outside. At night thought he would venture out into some areas, at the age of sixteen he packed up his commlink and items and joined up as an assistant to a hacker he'd met one night. Since then he has honed his skills towards hacking and getting even with the corps for the disregard they showed him and his mother. The only time he stepped back into the light since that night was to say goodbye to his mother when she lay dieing and at her funeral.

He now runs the shadows, known to very few and he likes it that way. The fewer that know him by anything other than his matrix persona the better. His mentor is gone, brainfired hacking into a mafia database. He works with the fixer and uses copies of his mentors software that he cracked the copyright protection on, and tends to keep very little possesions. He figures it's best, so he can walk away without worrying about sentamental items that he'll miss.

Well mine can become an adept, it's optional depending on the campaign and gm.

It makes sense in a way for him, since he focused so intently on that one field... Savant style adept

well that is part of the alt mods wich is in italics so it's optional to the char. He's still a core mundane, but in higher powered or more focused games he would have those abilities and such.

Once I get my hands on SR4, I'll see if there's any SR3-conversion rules.

Not in the SR4 core rules and according to several announcements the "best" you can hope for are conversions rules on the SR home page ... with no given ETA ...

And then there are people that already tried conversions and ended up with the following conclusion:

1. Get a feeling for how SR4 works and what would represent a character of comparable relative strength / power level.

2. Then take the original SR3 concept and built standard SR4 character upon it.

3. Add any number of karma points necessary to get the character of step 2 onto the skill and attribute level you determined in step 1.

Catherine Carter

Cat the Covert Technomancer

Cat was a reasonably competent competent resources extraction operative but everything changed in the 2nd Crash.

On November the 2nd, she was meeting with a fixer on the matrix when it occurred. She woke up a few days later in her apartment disoriented and confused, having had no sense of time having passed.

The matrix access was still patchy at best, but she was able to find out that her fixer had died in the crash. After the wireless systems were set up in (insert compatible campaign location here) she began to hear voices and feel strange sensations. Worried she researched what she could on the matrix, running across theories on the Shadow matrix.

She tested those theories out, and found that she had become a technomancer, able to access wireless systems without a commlink.

When the SIN amnesty was announced Cat jumped at the chance to try a normal life, she didn't however do too well, not being very experienced with systems, and having to explain just HOW she managed her matrix feats, while not giving away her technomancer status lead to some fairly silly mistakes.

Cat changed speciality going from resource to data extraction, specializing in infiltration of corporate networks that require an onsite hacker to access.

Cat tries to conceal and misdirect the source of her ability on the matrix, and as such will tend to pretend to be a hacker, her commlink however is largely for show, and is used for data storage mostly.

Cat has always been slightly nervous around larger bodies of water, and never learnt how to swim. For some reason, she has never liked water, and water has never liked her, water spirits always seem to have taken a dislike to her.
